Here's what's happening at McAlpine this week. It's a virtual, holiday spirit week! As a reminder, everyone is full remote learning from December 14 - January 19 except pre-k and some EC students.

December 1st -18th - McAlpine Winter Gift Card Drive (details below!)
Monday: Wear red and green or blue and white
Tuesday: Pajama day
Wednesday: Festive sock or necklace day
Thursday: Holiday hat day
Friday: Ugly sweater day
Monday, December 21st: Flannel day

All CMS K–12 students will begin full remote learning December 14 through January 15. In-person return for K–12 will begin Jan. 19.
EC students whose IEPs mandate in-person learning and Pre–K students will continue to be offered in-person learning in schools and through providers.

McAlpine Winter Gift Card Drive

Our winter gift card drive is off to an amazing start! Already, we have received a great deal of support for our families at McAlpine. if you have signed up for a gift card, you can still drop it off at school in the front office until the cutoff on December 18th. If your family is still looking for an opportunity to give during this season, please consider donating a gift card. These gift card donations will go directly to McAlpine Families! When: December 1st - 18th

McAlpine Houses Information

Five-day meal bundles will be available for pick up on Wednesday, December 16 and Monday, December 21 from 10 am – 1 pm at select locations throughout the district.
To assist families through the holidays, families may pick up two meal bundles per child on Monday, December 21 (while supplies last). Families are responsible for managing the storage and consumption of food products throughout this longer-than-usual period. Some foods do require refrigeration or are to remain frozen until consumed. Other products are shelf-stable.

If additional food is needed, bundles will include a flyer informing families how to request a self-referral to Loaves and Fishes.

Weekly meal bundle distribution will resume on Wednesday, January 6.

Important News
Grades for 3-5 Students

The 2nd Quarter ends on December 21st. In order for teachers to have time to finalize grades, the last day to submit 2nd quarter assignments will be Wednesday, December 16th. Please log into PowerSchool to review your child’s grades and any missing assignments. Wed. 12/9 is an Early Release day so that would be a great day to catch up on any missing work.

Charlotte Mecklenburg Schools recently began providing student email access for scholars in grades PK through 5. Now, CMS students in all grades have access to student email via Google Mail.

Student email accounts are for use in conjunction with coursework and day-to-day educational activities. Email offers a confidential and secure channel for students to communicate with CMS teachers and administrators. In some cases due to age or accessibility, guardians or parents may use the service on behalf of a student.
