Our Fall Virtual Book Fair is here! Visit www.McAlpineBookFair.com and click “Shop Now” to get started! Remember – you must be signed into your Scholastic account to support McAlpine!

You will find two ways to shop this year:

  • The traditional Scholastic Store features over 6,000 items, including new releases, best sellers, and value packs.
  • The new Virtual Book Fair offers a new, interactive shopping experience.

Don’t forget about your teachers! Teacher Wish Lists are available at www.McAlpineBookFair.com. Find your teacher’s name by scrolling through the tabs at the bottom of the worksheet. Once you purchase a book for your teacher, please fill out the “Purchased By” cell to avoid duplicates.

Also new this year: Scholastic eGift Cards! Gift a teacher, student, or sponsor a book for a McAlpine student. Find the link to the eGift Cards in the Scholastic Store.

Please consider sponsoring books for McAlpine classrooms and teachers by purchasing an eGift Card for McAlpineBookFair@gmail.com. All funds will be used to purchase books for McAlpine students and teachers.

All orders ship direct to home, and FREE shipping is offered on book-only orders over $25.

Thank you for your continued support of McAlpine Elementary School.

Happy reading!

*Free standard shipping is available on book-only orders of $25 or more, after all discounts are applied. Free standard shipping (books) must be selected during checkout. Orders containing products other than books are not eligible for this shipping promotion.

We won the lottery! Our friends at Harris Teeter have donated $2,500 to support McAlpine!

The North Carolina Lottery provides incentive payments to retailers who sell winning tickets in various lottery games and the Ballantyne Commons Harris Teeter recently sold a winning ticket, resulting in a $2,500 incentive award. Rather than keeping these profits, Harris Teeter has chosen to donate its incentive award back to local schools.

This money will be used to purchase materials that will benefit the whole school including an inflatable screen and projector, power cords and surge protectors to charge devices, math manipulatives, books, and more.

To show our appreciation to Harris Teeter, we are asking you to link your Harris Teeter VIC card to McAlpine by using TIE code 1118. You can link your VIC card through the Harris Teeter app, by visiting the website or by asking an associate at the customer service desk the next time you’re in store.

This is Principal Modine with important information about masks. Wearing a mask consistently and properly has a tremendous impact on limiting the spread of COVID-19. CMS requires students to wear masks at all times except when eating, drinking or performing strenuous activity (recess).
1. Be sure your child wears a mask that fits snugly around the nose and covers the mouth. If your child needs a smaller mask, we have a limited supply of juvenile disposable masks available at school.
2. The CDC recommends wearing a mask with two or more layers. Masks must be worn over your nose and mouth and secured under your chin.
3. Gaiters are not permitted because they are not secured under your chin.
4. Masks with valves of any type are prohibited for students and staff.
5. Masks should be washed and dried on the highest dryer setting. Students should never wear the same mask again without washing and drying it.

Media Center books will not be collected in the classroom or brought to the Media Center this year by students as part of our safety procedures.   Students are asked to bring their books back to school before their next Media class and place them in return bins in the hallways in the morning.  These book bins are then placed in a quarantine area for one week.  Please share this change with your child. Thank you!!
