CENMAC's 50th celebration

A big thank you to all those who were able to come to the Cineworld at the O2 to see our premiere screening of our film - A Voice for All - celebrating 50 years working with Assistive Technology in Education. A highlight of the afternoon was hearing from Abdi Omar again and the important messages from some of our amazing students.

We want to especially thank filmmaker Sasha Hoare who made an excellent job of collating the views of all of those interviewed, while keeping the users of assistive technology at the forefront. It is not only the assistive technology which has changed drastically over the last fifty years but also Education, Inclusion and Policy . We feel like Sasha was able to capture this along with the creative input from Tracey Francis who is the face behind all our lovely publications, social media updates and website developments.

Also on the programme was Me, Dragon and Eye-Gaze, a short technology review by Hicham, which was a joint venture with students and Jim Hobbs from the School of Film and TV at Greenwich University. Hicham's friend Aaron said 'I am really proud of him' when asked what he thought of his friend's film. The final film by writer, blogger and filmmaker Matthew Goodsell – 1000 Londoners – gave viewers an insight into his life as a wheelchair and communication device user. This celebratory event allowed attendees to reflect on CENMAC's journey within Assistive Technology and its impact on students' lives.
