May 2022

Dear ReflectUS Community,

I hope this letter finds you in good health!

This month we celebrate Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month and recognize the tremendous contributions API communities have made to our democracy! In particular, please follow and support the monumental efforts of ReflectUS Coalition member Asian Pacific American Institute for Congressional Studies (APAICS) as they work to promote API participation and representation at all levels of government.

The ReflectUS team is growing! Our network has grown quickly over the last few years, and we’re eager to announce our newest staff members. Please join me in welcoming: Marinda Harris as the Washington Program Manager, Dorothy “Dot” Heffron as the Virginia Program Manager, Kimberly Sawyer as the Interim Texas Program Manager, and Shenee Simon as the She’s Ready Program Manager. Welcome ladies!

I am also pleased to announce the expansion of the ReflectUS "It Begins Here" Fellowship Program. Given the tremendous success of our inaugural cohort, we are tripling the impact of the Fellowship Program by servicing significantly more women. The “It Begins Here” Fellowship supports women from working-class backgrounds as they pursue political and civic leadership. Applications for the program are now open and can be submitted online or via PDF to! Please submit your application online or nominate a woman by June 30, 2022. Read all about our Fellowship program in our latest press release.

On Wednesday, May 18, 2022, ReflectUS will host its next quarterly State Network meeting. The State Network is an opportunity for advocates and leaders at the state and local level to come together and share best practices and strategies for advancing women’s political and civic leadership. At this meeting, we will be joined by South Carolina Women's Leadership Network, who will discuss their innovative work on MatchBoard, which helps connect citizens with open positions on Boards and Commissions.  Additionally, we will also have Bill Track 50 joining us to share about their bill tracking software, which will be useful as we track legislation around the country regarding women's political and civic leadership. Join us by registering here.

Lastly, I hope you will consider attending one of the many in-person and online events our Coalition members are hosting. From conferences to galas, our Coalition members are doing it all! Below you’ll find all of the latest information on how to join these upcoming events.
