MORE WOMEN IN OFFICE = A STRONGER DEMOCRACY
September 2021

Dear ReflectUS Community,

Happy September!

Over the last several weeks, across the country we have witnessed women making history and breaking barriers. We are excited to welcome Kathy Hochul as the first female Governor of New York State!

Recent events are important reminders that we need more women in political leadership than ever before. For many women, political leadership begins with an appointment to a local board or commission. Therefore to get you started in your political leadership journey, we have updated our Boards and Commission Guides. Be sure to check those out on our website - applying to serve on a board or commission has never been easier!

We are also continuing our national conversations. Did you miss our "Run As You Are" State Network Training or our Reflection: System's Change webinar? Don't worry, you can view the recordings on our Facebook or YouTube channel to learn about the important issues impacting women's political leadership and how you can become involved.

September 15 is International Democracy Day! To celebrate we will have a national event "Women & Democracy" co-hosted by the League of Women Voters of The United States. The event will take place on September 22 at 7 PM ET. Please take a second to register and secure your spot.

Thank you to all of those who joined the ReflectUS Giving Circle. If you or someone else in your network is interested in being a ReflectUS Giving Circle member, please join today to enjoy the special perks!

Onward!
Tiffany Gardner, ReflectUS CEO

Welcome Elberel Davaa!

Elberel Davaa is joining ReflectUS as a Fellow with the Community Solutions, a program sponsored by the U.S. Department of State. As the Executive Director for Women for Social Progress in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia, Elberel has experience strengthening and promoting democratic processes and good governance by increasing citizen participation, improving citizen's education, and strengthening transparency and accountability through advocacy, training, and campaigns. During the CSP fellowship, Elberel hopes to learn about different approaches to training, advocacy, and campaigns for women and youth. One project Elberel hopes to work on following the fellowship is to increase awareness of and participation in the political and electoral processes through trainings and workshops aimed at increasing knowledge of political processes and building skills in advocacy and utilizing social media for outreach campaigns.

We are happy to have Elberel as part of the ReflectUS family!
