Finishing the year well!

We're shifting to outdoor, in-person activities this month. Where should we go next with our family ministry? Help decide by answering four quick questions for a Spring Check-In.

Grab your packets! We're taking a break from supply packets in June, but your May packets are ready for you and waiting in the brown box.

Throughout May, our Wednesday night activities will be outdoors at the church. Starting at 6:30 with a 7:30PM pickup time.

Should the weather interfere, a decision will be made before the regular, Wednesday email the church sends out. We have a pop up canopy and a fire pit, so we are hoping to continue, rain or shine!

Just in case, join the general email list to receive the church's weekly updates, if you don't already!

Here are your other essentials. Take note, as there have been some changes:

  1. LESSON VIDEOS: If you haven't already, subscribe to the CYF YouTube channel. On Sundays, kid's lessons post by 8AM, youth by 9AM.
  2. ZOOM MEETUP: No Zoom this month. Come to the church at 6:30PM to play outside!
  3. IN-PERSON WORSHIP: Reservations are no longer required. Keep in mind that masks are, and children will stay with their families for now.
  4. LIVE-STREAM: The at-home worship experience will continue to air at 10AM on Sundays on the church website.

We won't really run a 5K, but we'll use the idea of planning and practice to help our kids explore the value of Commitment, making a plan and putting it into practice.

If you've subscribed to the CYF YouTube Channel and "liked" First Baptist on Facebook, you should find everything you need posted, along with some reminders along the way.

People talk about “loving God” all the time, but there’s one problem that nobody seems to mention: you can’t see Him. Weird, right? How do you connect to someone who never seems to audibly respond? In this series, we’ll be talking about the faith habits that make it possible to connect with an invisible God. And while there’s no formula for knowing everything about God, there are key habits that will change the way we see Him at work all around you.

WEEK 1: Connecting with God helps us know Him better.
WEEK 2: Listening to God helps us know Him better.
WEEK 3: Talking to God helps us know Him better.
WEEK 4: Talking about God helps us know Him better.
WEEK 5: Worshiping God helps us know Him better.

Pick up a May supply packet to deepen your learning with daily devotions.

For all the videos and resources, check out the CYF YouTube Channel and if you've "liked" FBCdsm's Youth Group on Facebook, links will post to remind you, as well.

Our Mid-ABC Church Camps are ready to roll for a fantastic relaunch this summer! COVID safety plans are in place to keep campers safe.

To support our camps and give our kids a needed opportunity to grow in faith, explore, and socialize, FBC's Christian Education Committee is offering to reduce the cost of camp to $20 for our FBC campers!

Camp brochures and links to details and schedules are available on the Mid-ABC website.

Already know your camp of choice?
Fill out the registration for Forest Lake or Dayton Oaks and return it to the church with your $20.

SECIAL NOTE: I'll be leading Forest Lake's Contact Camp the last week of July and would love to have some FBC Campers there!

It's an odd reversal, after a year of being especially concerned about our older friends and loved ones, the lack of vaccines and rise of variants are making kids source of concern and ambivalence while adults are able to resume their social lives.

If you are having any trouble securing vaccine for a member of your family that is 16 or older, please reach out for help getting an appointment; we have lots of practice vaccine hunting now. It still gives me a thrill of joy when I hear that someone in my life is safe!

While we wait for the word that it is safe for our kids to resume indoor activities, we will do everything we can to make the most of the outdoors this summer.

We'll start with a month of outdoor, in-person, Wednesday night activities that will wrap up with a May 26th finale. Look for updates on VBS and youth service opportunities later in summer, too!

Before I close, let me take just a moment to give our small group leaders a shout out, too. Betsy Yates, Nichole and Joel Sungren, Rita Holter, Tait Michener, and Brian Beltrame (in no particular order!) have served our kids and youth with incredible dedication this year. If you see them, definitely tell them thanks! Even as the world has developed Zoom Fatigue and maybe just some general malaise, these six have stayed joyful and upbeat and given our young people stabile and kind adults to turn to. May they be richly blessed for their commitment!

You parents know what commitment is, after all! Keep it up a few more weeks, you're almost there! I can't wait to close the book on this school year!
