Our regular, Wednesday Night Activities have ended, and we are shifting to a summer pace. But your family doesn't have to take a break from growing in faith! There are still weekly lessons available for your kids to check out, and there are some awesome summer service opportunities for families!

This weekend, there will be a Saturday morning work day (8:30-12:30) with small jobs, like weeding and cleaning, that even your littlest kids could join in doing.

Our Outreach Committee is planning to pass out water and kindness at the Johnston Farmer's Market on Tuesday afternoons this summer. It's a great way to let our community know we are here and want to connect with them. Contact the church office for more information.

We are also excited to offer a VBS experience, August 9-13th, that goes with the summer "Press Play" lesson theme! Volunteer Signups are open now. We have a place for anyone 6th Grade and up who is willing to serve during this fun week! And kids, circle it on your calendar, because registration will open July 1st. We're planning a beach party on Friday, with pontoon boat rides, at Big Creek! Invite a friend, we're going to have a great time!

Finally, this is the season for summer camping for everyone school aged and up! Check out your options below.

Here's what you need this month for lessons:

  1. LESSON VIDEOS: If you haven't already, subscribe to the CYF YouTube channel. On Sundays, kid's lessons post by 8AM, youth by 9AM.
  2. IN-PERSON WORSHIP: Reservations are no longer required and masks are options per the CDC guidance. Children will continue to worship together with their families for now, kindles and busy bags are available to help.
  3. LIVE-STREAM: The at-home worship experience will continue to air at 10AM on Sundays on the church website.
Join the general email list to receive the church's weekly updates, if you don't already, and keep up with events and projects as they unfold.

Seeing ourselves the way God sees us can give us all the confidence we need! We'll be learning all the ways that matters, throughout this summer, and we'll cap it off with a VBS week in August!

If you've subscribed to the CYF YouTube Channel and "liked" First Baptist on Facebook, you should find everything you need posted, along with some reminders along the way.

What is it that makes temptation so tricky? How is it possible that we know something is bad for us and do it anyway? In this series, as we look at the temptations Jesus faced and how He managed to overcome them. As we do, we’ll discover that whether we win or lose with temptation, the battle is often fought in our minds before anywhere else.

WEEK 1: Let what God says about you influence what you do.
WEEK 2: Live knowing God cares for your needs.
WEEK 3: Trust what God has labeled as true.
WEEK 4: When you give in, you can start again.

Watching the lessons together can give you a great opportunity to explore these faith issues and model your faith! For all the videos and resources, check out the CYF YouTube Channel and if you've "liked" FBCdsm's Youth Group on Facebook, links will post to remind you, as well.

Our Mid-ABC Church Camps are ready to roll for a fantastic relaunch this summer! COVID safety plans are in place to keep campers safe.

To support our camps and give our kids a needed opportunity to grow in faith, explore, and socialize, FBC's Christian Education Committee is offering to reduce the cost of camp to $45 for our FBC campers!

Camp brochures and links to details and schedules are available on the Mid-ABC website.

Already know your camp of choice?
Fill out the registration for Forest Lake or Dayton Oaks and return it to the church with your $45.

SECIAL NOTE: I'll be leading Forest Lake's Contact Camp the last week of July and would love to have some FBC Campers there!

Congratulations, everyone! You've made it through one, crazy year. If you're someone who is skipping across the finish line and barely short of breath, I applaud you. If you are dragging yourself, and as many family members as you can carry, to the end, I applaud you, too. I pray that as things open up and some of your normal fun and activities resume, that you savor them with a new freshness that fills you with joy and energy.

And I look forward to seeing you around FBC, too! I can assure you that your church family is not the same without you. If at any point some family accommodations, like round tables in the narthex for a more relaxed atmosphere, or childcare, would help ease the transition, RSVP by Wednesday and we'll be sure we've got everything ready for you on Sunday morning!

With prayers for each and every family.
Pastor Emily
