Message from the President
Welcome to the ECCI Express – the monthly newsletter to keep members informed, engaged, and connected.
Over the past 12 months, ECCI has successfully petitioned government and industry to create opportunities to promote, sustain and grow Exmouth businesses in what is an extremely challenging year.
We have developed strong Industry partnerships and delivered targeted programs to assist our members in a variety of ways as we navigate 2020. The substantial support from Woodside, Santos, Horizon Power and BHP will allow us to better deliver the Exmouth Business Accelerator, and other incredibly valuable programsAs we wind-up what has been a remarkable year, we are proud of ECCI’s positive impact on local business and the Exmouth community at large.
Partnerships with Woodside, BHP, Santos, Horizon Power, the WA government, and the Shire of Exmouth has resulted in over $1M of funding secured to implement a wide range of innovative business support programs commencing in 2020 and beyond.
Our plans for the Exmouth Business Centre are on track and this facility will provide the focus for the Exmouth Business Accelerator program and the stability to grow our membership.
The positions of President, Vice President, Secretary, Treasurer and up to 6 committee members are available. Your nomination must be completed and returned by 31 December 2020. See link below.

Shire BAH and ECCI Xmas Party
Thanks to the Shire of Exmouth for hosting a very enjoyable Business After Hours followed by the ECCI Christmas Party. We heard about the Shire’s services and priorities from Shire President Matt Niikula, and CEO Cameron Bird. Vince Catania MLA, Kyle McGlinn MLC and Cherie Sibosado provided insights into government priorities for the Exmouth community.
We had an excellent turn-out and everyone enjoyed the Christmas party celebrations with a few drinks and a delicious spread supplied by Darlene and Ningaloo Cooking Studio.  It was a great way to end the business year
Branding with Canva Workshop
We were very lucky to have Oksana from RSM Business Local come to Exmouth last month and help local business owners understand the basics of branding and showed them how to use Canva to maintain consistency across all media for successful brand recognition.

The workshops were run over 2 days with an evening and morning session available, this split day and time options were a huge success with 2 fully booked sessions.
New member - Claire Holmes of Safety Solutions Exmouth explains.
“The Branding with Canva was an incredible workshop. As a new business owner, I found the branding kit and how I can use it to be particularly useful. Oksana was very professional and an excellent teacher.” Thanks to Woodside’s, Exmouth Business Accelerator Program for this opportunity.

With such great reviews, Oksana will definitely be back if you missed out this time. Proudly supported by the Woodside Exmouth Business Accelerator Program.

Future Projects
More exciting programs planned for 2021!
Another exciting development is the establishment of the Exmouth Business Centre which enjoys strong support from Shire Councilors, Management and the ECCI membership.

The Business Centre will be a one-stop-shop for business information, meetings, and networking events. We were also successful in our application for a $80K State Government RED grant assisted by the Gascoyne Development Commission. This funding along with the Shire of Exmouth, BHP and Horizon Power will contribute to the fit-out and refurbishment of the currently vacant, old Shire Offices. It’s going to be a well utilized community facility!

ECCI recognised the need to employ a local Ops and Project Officer who will work out of the Exmouth Business Centre, providing support to the Executive, Members, plus provide expertise in project management and business development. An announcement will be made shortly.  BHP’s Business Hub and Capacity Building fund will cover the salary for 2 years.  After which time the Chamber expects to generate income streams to sustain this role and to ensure ECCI’s future is solid.

The Chamber has welcomed opportunities to grow local business and employment. An example being the BHP Town Beach Development Program. This is a joint venture with the Shire of Exmouth, specifically to improve amenities, facilities, and food offerings at Town Beach, increase local employment and small business opportunities while improving the Exmouth Tourist experience.

Additionally, in response to BHP’s Exmouth Economic Development Program, ECCI is supporting one of our members’ - being Base Marine’s effort to establish an RTO to deliver specialised training not readily available in Exmouth. e.g. forklift, elevated work platform, open crane, and riggers licences etc. These are both substantial projects which ECCI is pleased to support.
ECCI internal and external communication has improved vastly thanks to the revised website which includes a comprehensive Business Register of members, news, and project outlines. The ECCI Facebook page and monthly e-newsletter is keeping our members and the wider community informed of our activities and how people can be involved.
We look forward with growing confidence to 2021 as we work with our members, corporate partners and community stakeholders.
