Six Years of WY-FI Round-Up: 15 May 2020
Welcome to this special edition of the WY-FI Newsletter. For the next few weeks we'll be sending out a round-up of our Six Years of WY-FI campaign, which we're running to mark the wind down of direct support for beneficiaries.
Six Years of WY-FI
Direct support to WY-FI Beneficiaries will be wrapping up on 31st May 2020, and over the next few weeks, we’ll be looking back on WY-FI – the numbers, our highlights, the successes we’ve celebrated and the challenges we’ve faced, and some of the learning from the project.

But that’s not all. Some strategic elements of WY-FI are going to keep going for another year to support the system to change and enable people experiencing multiple needs to receive effective support.

We’ll be saying more about this at the beginning of June 2020. So for now, here’s the Six Years of WY-FI story so far....the story of how we’ve been helping people in West Yorkshire to find their independence.
Sustaining What Works in West Yorkshire
Here are the numbers from across West Yorkshire. We'll be looking at the numbers from each locality next week.
We've worked with 823 beneficiaries.

Out of all our beneficiaires, 440 have had planned, or successful exits from the programme.

Only 13 people with planned exits needed further support.

Within 18 months of engaging with WY-FI, 64% of beneficiaries show an improvement in their housing scores, and 71% show an improvement in their chaos scores

Multiple Voices: Multiple Needs - The WY-FI Podcast Series
We produced a series of podcasts to share the learning and insight we’ve gathered since the project started in 2014. Here's a summary of each one, with a link to the recording.
Podcast 1 - A General Project Overview
In this first podcast, Programme Manager Sue Northcott was joined by members of the WY-FI Team to give an overview of the project. And special guest Peter Dobson made a guest appearance to tell us a bit more about the Fulfilling Lives Programme that we’re proud to be part of.

Podcast 2 - Multi-Agency Working
Our second podcast was led by Roger Abbott, WY-FI’s Workforce Development & Learning Co-ordinator. Roger was joined by three of our lead Multiple Need Navigators: Nic (Leeds), John (Bradford) and Mel (Wakefield), to talk about the successes and challenges of multi-agency working.

Podcast 3 - The new Data Dashboard
In our third podcast, we’re joined by the Research & Evaluation Team to talk about the new data dashboard they’ve created – which provides quick and easy access to a range of beneficiary and locality data from across West Yorkshire.

Podcast 4 - #seethefullpicture campaign
In this podcast, we joined Sarah Stead, former Media & Communications Officer at WY-FI, to find out about the #seethefullpicture campaign, which petitioned for change to give everyone access to mental heath support, including people experiencing substance misuse issues.

WY-FI's System Change Priorities

We've focussed on three system change priorities over the last six years.

  • The WY-FI Navigator Model
  • Multi-Agency Working
  • Co-Production
WY-FI Navigator Model
Since our delivery teams were formed back in 2014, we've given our Multiple Needs Navigators time to really get to know beneficiaries, building support plans around their individual needs.

Multi-Agency Working
Our Navigators have led on case discussions at Multi-Agency Review Boards, reviewing existing cases, identifying new referrals, as well as highlighting gaps in service provision and opportunities for service flex.

Co-Production
Co-Production is the third of our system change priorities. We've been encouraging people with lived experience to come together in innovative and creative ways to support each other, influence services & inform research.
