Inside this Issue!

In January 2020 the World Health Organization (WHO) declared the outbreak of a new coronavirus disease in Hubei Province, China to be a Public Health Emergency of International Concern. WHO stated there is a high risk of the 2019 coronavirus disease (COVID-19) spreading to other countries around the world. WHO and public health authorities around the world are taking action to contain the COVID-19 outbreak. However, long term success cannot be taken for granted. All sections of our society – including businesses and employers – must play a role if we are to stop the spread of this disease.

Women's Health Goulburn North East invites you to join the upcoming Fire in the dry grass - Regional Gender Equity Community of Practice meeting on Thursday, March 26, 2020 at Benalla Performing Arts and Convention Centre.

Open to practitioners and managers working towards gender equity and the prevention of family violence in the Goulburn Valley and Ovens Murray regions, the Regional Gender Equity Community of Practice builds upon previous Prevention of Violence Against Women Community of Practice gatherings.

If you're not sure how you can contribute to this important social justice issue, come along and find out more about promoting gender equity, the prevention of gender-based violence (including intersectional groups and services - i.e. LGBTIQA+, all abilities, multicultural services, etc.), promoting access to sexual and reproductive health, and women's economic empowerment.

This first meeting of the year takes the metaphor of grassfire - and the speed with which it roars across our landscapes - to consider how we might work together to ensure gender equity principles do the same in our communities.

Please arrive at 9.45am for a 10am sharp start.

Morning tea and lunch will be provided.
