VIRTUAL WORKSHOP ON JUNE 8 & 9:
AIR POLLUTION AND HEALTH IN SOUTHEAST EUROPE
As fine particulate matter (PM2.5) levels in Southeast Europe have remained higher than in those of Western Europe for decades, public and governmental interest in the topic increases, and the demand for data and evidence on air pollution levels and trends as well as health effects is growing. In an effort to focus the discussions related to air quality and health, the Health Effects Institute will host a virtual workshop on June 8 & 9, 2021 (1- 4 PM CEST) to review the status of current evidence on health effects of air pollution in the Southeast European region and its interlinkage to current policy debate and actions. For more information on sessions and speakers click here. The workshop is planned in collaboration with the European Respiratory Society and ISEE Europe and environmental health institutions in Bulgaria and Serbia.

We welcome stakeholders from academic/research institutes, healthcare organizations, professional societies, national and regional non-profit groups, bi- and multi-lateral organizations, federal and local government agencies, ministries and other organizations.

Please note that the workshop will be hosted via Zoom and is open to the public. Register here. For any questions, please contact Eleanne van Vliet

A SUCCESSFUL 2021 ISEE YOUNG CONFERENCE!

ISEE Europe and the Swiss Tropical and Public Health Institute (Swiss TPH) hosted the 4th Early Career Researchers Conference on Environmental Epidemiology on February 18 & 19, 2021. The virtual event gathered around 200 researchers discussing a range of topics on epidemiology, public health and the environment. The abstracts have been published online in Environmental Epidemiology.

The conference offered plenty of opportunities for young scientists to network and exchange in the virtual coffee house "Buvette", including early morning yoga and pilates, a pub quiz, a scavenger hunt, peer-to-peer mentoring, and a meet the editors/president session. Below a screenshot showing the great support team during a practice run before the conference. Thanks again to all participants, presenters, keynotes and other senior ISEE members showing your support in various ways!

The recordings of the 3 plenary sessions are available on ISEE's YouTube channel. Check it out!
