Camp Paws-Abilities is Back!
Our 4th annual Camp Paws-Abilities was held this month after a 2-year hiatus due to the pandemic. Can we say, "Best Yet"? Held over 3 days, participants enjoyed the petting zoo, crafts, music, magic, and more. There was lots of laughter and puppy love too! A big mahalo to our dedicated volunteers for their hard work in making this event for children with special needs so much fun.

Puppy of the Month - Olu!

Olu is 2-months old and living large at the Grand Wailea on Maui! General Manager, JP Oliver, is raising and training Olu, who goes to work with him every day. Olu is learning how to walk on a leash and have good manners! In Hawaiian, "Olu" means "polite", "kind", and "courteous" and she is already living up to her name. She is very popular among the staff and guests. Mahalo JP for puppy-raising Olu!
Water Dog Duke!
Rich Julian and Service Dog Duke are often seen in Waikiki when the surf is up. Duke is able to pull Rich's wave ski up the beach which is a huge help for Rich. Rich is the founder of Access Surf, an organization who empowers people with disabilities through accessible beach and water programs. They recently hosted the 2022 Hawaii Adaptive Surf Championships where over 100 athletes competed from 14 countries. As founder, Rich gave the opening speech and competed in the wave ski division. Duke was at the shoreline cheering him on and ready to assist!

Fun Times at Tucker's Treehouse

There was lots of activity this month at Tucker's Treehouse! Participants from Camp Paws-Abilities enjoyed sing-a-longs and a magic show. Also, children who were visiting campus played on the recently installed climbing rope and ladder. The Treehouse was built in memory of Hospital Facility Dog Tucker, who helped thousands of children and their families during his career at Kapi`olani Medical Center on Oahu.
