Fun on the 4th!
It was a great turnout for the annual Bainbridge Island Chamber of Commerce Grand Old Fourth of July parade! There were lots of spirited staff, graduates and volunteers who came out to walk with the ADNW float and wave flags. Program Dogs, Samson and Sadie, were returning crowd favorites but 8-week old Golden Retriever puppies, Prince and Paddington, stole the show!
Chief Canine Officer Hope Retires
Seven years ago, Hope became the first full-time Hospital Facility Dog in Oregon at OHSU Doernbecher Children's Hospital. Since then, she has helped over 8,000 children and their families. One of her patients said, "Hope was such a bright light during our hospital stays. She made our tough days easier for us while we were at Doernbecher." Hope will enjoy her well-deserved golden years with handler, Sandy Westfall. A big thanks to Hope's sponsors and to Kate McCoy for making this placement possible!
Camp Paws-Abilities Comes to ADNW!
ADNW hosted Camp Paws-Abilities this month for the participants of Vitalize Kitsap, an organization that serves people with intellectual and developmental disabilities. This one-day camp featured doggie-themed fun and activities including: dog and puppy races, puppy pool time, training demonstrations, and hands-on grooming. It was a fun day for everyone!
