"Chief Cuddling Officer"
OHSU Doernbecher Children's Hospital recently named Hospital Facility Dog, Casey, as their official "Chief Cuddling Officer"! Casey was placed last year at the hospital and she quickly became very popular in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, Labor & Delivery and Mother-Baby units. She's often seen wearing a sparkly pink bow and her main job is providing comfort and companionship to patients and families. As her handler, Nurse Manager Nikki Wiggins, said so perfectly, “The NICU can be a really hard place to be. Our families are here for a very long time, sometimes upwards of 100 days or more. We want this to be a time that they can become resilient and grow as a family, so anything we can do to promote that is really important. Families have found Casey to be really comforting in terms of having the kind of interaction that they’re used to having in their home setting with their own pets.”

Therapy Teams Visit Children's Home Society
Therapy Teams Teddie and Wrangler along with Wendi and Meadow were only too happy to share hugs and staff support at the Children's Home Society of Washington this month. This non-profit organization provides family support and counseling services to families in Clark County, and they have had an understandably stressful few months. Meadow and Wrangler reported for therapy duty and can't wait to return in August!
Nico Graduates Puppy Kindergarten
Nico successfully graduated from Puppy Kindergarten this month and has already begun Basic Training. Described by his Puppy Raiser Kathy as a "snuggle bug," he has a sweet, loving, and calm temperament. He is excited to start every training session! Way to go Nico!
