March-April Survey Follow-up:
Thank you so much for your support in completing the most recent survey! As an organization that believes deeply in continuous improvement, we greatly value your feedback.

We know that our work with you has happened during an extraordinarily challenging year for educators, and we see and appreciate the good work you all are doing.

To share a few wins with you:

  • Overall, our partners, admins, and coaches continue to be satisfied with the program! 74% of Partner Teachers are happy that their school is partnering with Cadence. This is a 10% increase from our previous survey so we are excited to hear that your experience is improving!
  • Across the board we were excited to see that admin/coaches scores improved across all survey questions. We are committed to continuing to support admin and coaches in this work. We also highly recommend coaches to check out and attend PD, or watch asynchronously!

While we are happy to see this increase, we know that we are far from 100% in terms of happiness AND that we need to continue to improve the quality of our materials and PD each day. We are especially focused on making our Summer 2021 offerings great. We know that many of you have committed to using or are considering using Cadence Learning for a Summer School, and we wanted you to know that we are doubling down to ensure that these offerings – novel studies and close reading for Literature and problem solving and math foundations for math – are exceptional. We are continuing to improve our core 2021 work as we set up Summer 2021 to be outstanding. We hope you join us this summer!

We also hear you about some pain points in the program:

Movement Videos: Students staying engaged while we worked through some recycled Movement videos is definitely a pain point. We have already started working with our newest vendor, Gotham Gymnastics! We highly encourage you to check them out if you haven't already and hope that this helps students stay engaged in our Movement videos through the end of the semester!

Highly Engaging MT Videos: An area that scores decreased a bit was in response to the strength of the Mentor teacher videos. We are committed to ensuring that our Mentor Teachers continue to strive for highly engaging content and have systems in place on our team to ensure we are providing feedback and continuing to keep our bar high through the end of the year. Thank you for that feedback!

We only have one survey left this year and would love to get as much participation as possible in order to continue to improve our program in the future! Stay tuned for the next survey in late May!

Spring Program Reminders

Professional Development
Haven't joined us for PD yet this year? It's not too late!  Our PD tracker is updated each Monday with weekly PD topics. We hope teachers, coaches and administrators use this resource to help navigate our PD options each week!

PD for the spring semester will end on June 2nd.

ELA Novel Access
Direct download links for upcoming novels are available using the Novel Access slides located in the 3/4, 5/6, and 7/8 ELA folders in the Partner drive.

ELA 5/6 Scope and Sequence
To best plan the ELA curriculum for the rest of the school year, we encourage all partner teachers and admins to look at the
scope and sequence. If you are behind the Cadence curriculum and will not be able to finish the whole year, we suggest that you start Unit 6 Stars Beneath our Feet before Unit 5 Short Stories. We want to ensure students don't finish the school year mid-book. Since Unit 5 is broken into different short stories, teachers can use some or all of the unit without disruption to the plot or narrative.

Science
Grades 6-8: Office hours are held every Wednesday 3:30-4:30pm ET. Please feel free to utilize this resource as you see fit. If you are unable to attend Office Hours you may reach out to our S2S instructor Gary Sarkis, Garysarkis@students2science.org, with any questions you may have.
