Courageous Girls is more than a curriculum for moms and daughters. The holistic motive is to raise our daughters in a world that aims to objectify them and confuse their identity at every turn. The root needs of every girl is the same, as evidenced in years of sitting with hurting moms and daughters of all ages....to be known and to be loved. Courageous Girls addresses these needs by helping moms and daughters understand who God is and who God says they are. As moms, we can fear for our girls:
Will they struggle with the same issues I struggled with?
Will they be strong enough, and yet gentle, like Jesus?
Will they know their worth or will they compromise?
Will they see all of my faults and insecurities?
Will I fail my daughter(s)?
Will I know what to do at the next stage?
Will I be able to protect them from all of the harm in this world?
Regardless of why you started Courageous Girls initially, know that this movement was created for YOU, as well as your daughter. At CG, our prayer is that every mom would experience healing, wholeness, and transformation alongside her daughter(s) because YOU are your daughter's very model. Every girl needs her mom. Many moms did not have a model to help them navigate the various (and very normal) things girls face: changing bodies, friendship, identity questions, sexuality, suffering, social media, and more. Courageous Girls is not about being a social club, a service club, or creating perfect girls. Courageous Girls is a platform to bring moms and daughters into an environment of life-on-life honest discipleship that allows moms to practice leading their daughters well. One of the hopes is to create a safe and trusted community to navigate whatever life brings her way (hello global pandemic!).
God is using Courageous Girls to heal a mom's heart and give her opportunity and confidence to lean into her relationship with her daughter. It is giving daughters a fun and safe community to experience positive peer pressure. The voices our girls are hearing are endlessly confusing. And we, Courageous Mamas, get to be the voices of truth, grace, hope, and love. To agree with N.T. Wright, we are the sign post for our girls to learn about God's love and redemption. Our daughters catch more from who we are than what we do!
With love, gratitude, and a huge reminder that GOD GROWS THE FRUIT. GOD DOES THE WORK. WE GET TO RECEIVE AND BE IN AWE OF HIS WAYS. Be encouraged. You are not alone.
Rooted in Grace,
Jeff & Terra
GIVING FOR GROWTH
As we consider what is ahead for Courageous Girls, would you consider partnering with us financially so we can continue to grow? You know that Courageous Girls is a trusted resource for you and your daughter. If we can raise enough support to cover some of the baseline needs for Courageous Girls, we will be able to start working toward a much needed curriculum for BOYS....can I hear an AMEN?
Consider making a tax-deductible donation to help sustain the Courageous Girls Movement. Your donation allows us to continue to provide biblical, relational and clinical CG curriculum, member and group support, intentional trainings, podcasts, FB Lives, and other resources via our website.
We are utterly grateful and encouraged to link arms with YOU to help raise a generation of girls who are rooted in God’s abundant grace and know they are fully loved!
Words of Love "...let us continue to love one another, for love comes from God. Anyone who loves is a child of God and knows God. But anyone who does not love does not know God, for God is love."
- 1 John 4:7-8
What does it look like to SLOW DOWN and savor the moments that lay before you? What if we put this sentiment in our hearts during this season of Jesus’ birth? A few ideas to engage your 5 senses and help you slow down: breathe in the scent of pine tree or cold morning air, taste a cup of warm hot cocoa, give your daughter an 8 second hug, see your daughter’s face and soak in her features. Be loved and love well.
Wishing you and your family a beautiful Advent and a Merry Christmas!

Courageous mama of 2 daughters, Liz Dooley, shares this month on the CG Blog about how she lives loved. Liz shares the many ways she has seen God’s love in her life, including neighbors who acted as the hands and feet of Jesus in her teen years, having a miracle baby girl, to the inspiration and strength given to see and fulfill a need in her own community. The message of this book is at the heart of Courageous Girls and what it means to let what we know about God transform our reality. Too often we think there is no more room for anyone else - especially if you are not like me. This lovely story takes place in the barn where Jesus was born. And each animal finds they have a place near the King. Sometimes we (or our girls) feel like they don't belong or make others feel like they don't belong. This is a gentle reminder to us that there is always room for one more!
