Rooted in Grace                                     "Be loved and love well"                                               Issue 01

We know life is filled with many pivots and adjustments right now. As we close the season of perpetual spring break and consider schedules, school (in what ever way you are led) and Fall, there is something still hazy in all our eyes.

With a global pandemic and social unrest, we recognize that there is little to no leadership and many are feeling alone, isolated, and confused. When you feel like spinning and you feel like you might get swallowed up by the circumstances, (it’s likely a flipped lid and an amygdala on fire), think simple and concrete.

Our five senses bring us back to the here and now, remind us that the moment is important, even if tomorrow is uncertain. Breath deeper. Touch textures. Eat slower. Listen to the sounds that you normally pass by. Our kids need us to be grounded. Simple ways we can stay connected to the voice of grace. “I am with you. And this too shall pass.”

Tip: 20-30 second hugs might be the very thing you, your spouse, your kids, and even your neighbor might need today. It literally changes our biochemistry and tells our amygdala we are safe. Try it. If that’s to long, try 8 seconds.

Because of Grace,
Jeff & Terra

Words of Love
"Each of you should use whatever gift you have received to serve others, as faithful stewards of God's grace in it's various forms" - 1 Peter 4:10

Our CG Prayer Team would be honored to pray for you, your daughter, and/or your CG group. You can share your prayer requests at and one of our prayer team members will be in touch. Whether your kid(s) are participating in online school, homeschool, or in person school we cannot cover them in enough prayer for the year ahead.

In addition, we thought we would share two incredible resources from Christian Parenting with you as you start your school year:

Check out this Prayer Journal for the 2020-2021 school year created by Cynthia Yanof.

In addition, here is a great article to help you gear up for what could be a bumpy school year!

Are your days feeling full with kiddos? Perhaps you are working from home or trying to get a few projects completed around your home or yard? Do your kiddos seem to know the exact moment when you are engaged in another task and ask, “Hey mama can you play?”

It's not easy attending to all the “To Do’s” each day. Setting a clear schedule of when you are working (home chores or outside the home chores), helps kids know when you are available. As parents, what if we re-frame the interruptions from our kids and saw them as an opportunity?  Once or twice this month, try to put down what you are working on and say “Yes” to your kiddos request to engage, it could be such a gift to their heart!

#SmallThingsMatter Campaign
Back to School shopping may look different this year for many families in our CG community. But, if purchasing a pair of new shoes for the school year and those growing feet in your home is still part of the plan, would you consider purchasing a pair of The Shoe That Grows for a refugee child to have clean feet as well?
