Kickstart Scheme

The Kickstart Scheme was announced in July as a support system for employers to take on young employees and help tackle youth unemployment. This means that the government will pay wages on behalf of employers for six-month-long work placements given to those aged 16-24 years.

Due to this funding, a large number of varied job vacancies are becoming live with JobCentre Plus, so speak to your JCP work coach to discuss placements.

You will be eligible for jobs funded by the Kickstart Scheme if you:
  • are aged 16-24 years
  • are claiming Universal Credit
  • are referred to the employer by DWP (speak to your job coach regarding this)

Below are some relevant resources that may assist you in the meantime.
