Upcoming and recent opportunities 


KAE Employability and Wellbeing course  Kingston Adult Education have produced a new 6 week online course due to commence in November. Those who join the course will learn a range of new skills based on enhancing your employability and looking after your mental health. Mentors will also touch on other skills such as IT, English and Maths. These will take place 2 mornings a week, lasting from 10:00am until 12:30pm. Spear Digital Programme  Resurgo have launched their virtual employment programme which has been specifically designed to help tackle the employment difficulties for young people during the Coronavirus crisis. This programme will currently be run online via 3 weekly Zoom calls, and will support you with interview training and practice sessions, building your confidence, and creating/editing your CV and cover letter. To apply, you must be aged between 16-24 years, out of employment and education, and have regular internet access. To apply and find out more, click here.

Free CSCS Course  The London Construction Academy have announced that they have a new CSCS course available free of charge. To be eligible, you must be 18+, living in London, and not in employment, training or education. Throughout this 10 day course, you will gain knowledge on health and safety, customer service, first aid, and more. You will also be awarded a free CSCS card on successful completion of the CSCS test. To apply, fill out this form, and to find out more about the course, click here


Catering Assistant Vacancy  Richard Challoner's Boys School in New Malden is now advertising a new vacancy for a catering assistant to join their staff. Main duties would involve helping to prepare and serve food, clean up, and perform duties within the main school cafeteria as well as the sixth form mezzanine cafe. All training is provided, so no experience is necessary - making this a perfect job for school leavers. The closing date for applications in 9 October, so to apply before it closes, click here.

Calling all young creators...  Creative Youth are searching for young people who are budding within any part of the arts industry to join their Young Creatives panel. Young Creatives will receive a number of learning opportunities across varied aspects of the Arts sector, including involvement in their International Youth Arts Festival. Due to current circumstances, Young Creatives will meet atleast twice a month via Zoom, however, future meetings will be held at their Kingston offices, so this should be considered before applying as they ask for a commitment of atleast 2-3 years. Scope's Employment Programme  Scope's new employment programme will now have their sessions run virtually due to the Coronavirus outbreak, which also means they can be accessible for more people. Scope's programme is designed to provide employment support, interview preparation, and post-employment help specifically to those with a disability. Their aim is to ensure that disabled individuals do not get left out or forgotten about during the Coronavirus recovery. To apply for the programme, you must be 16+, looking for paid employment, living in Leeds or London, and have a disability, impairment or condition. They can also provide adjustments such as live chat or BSL video interpretation. To apply or find out more, click here.

What is a construction apprenticeship?  GoConstruct now have a page on their website explaining what a construction apprenticeship is like, what your options are for a career pathway in construction, and how/where you can apply for vacancies. Redesigned NCS Website  The National Careers Service website has recently been redesigned and filled with more information than ever. They have separated the information into categories with lots of useful links so it's easier for you to find and explore your options. They have new information about interviews, upskilling, options for those with an EHCP, finding a job, and much more. To view this webpage, click here.

Apprenticeship spotlight


Apprentice Nursery Assistant  Training providers, Parenta, are advertising a level 2 apprenticeship with Mandarin Ducklings Nursery in Twickenham. This 15-month-long apprenticeship will allow you to gain a qualification in childcare. The potential start date of this apprenticeship is 1 December, and they will stop taking applications by 30 November. Click here to apply

Level 2 Hairdressing Apprenticeship  Westbrook Salon in Richmond are looking for an apprentice to join their staff for a minimum of 15-18 months before completion of the course. No experience is required, but they expect applicants to have a desire and passion for hairdressing. The closing date for this apprenticeship is 10 January 2021, so there is still plenty of time to apply

Level 2 Pharmacy Services Assistant  Brent Pharmacy are searching for a determined apprentice to join their staff. This apprenticeship vacancy would last 1 year, with one day a week attending college for training purposes, and the other 4 days working within their Brentford pharmacy. With a potential start date of 28 October, this vacancy closes on 25 October. Click here to apply

Healthcare Science Apprenticeship STERIS posted an advertisement for a level 2 healthcare science apprenticeship that would be based within Kingston Hospital. On completion of this apprenticeship, you will have the chance to progress to their Technician career pathway. The closing date for this vacancy is 16 October, and the expected start date is 2 November. Click here to apply
