Let's ignore the outside world...

... and snuggle up in Romancelandia. In this magical land of happily-ever-afters, there are no assholes (except for alpha-holes, and we like those ones), the sun shines brightly, the birds sing sweetly and we are free to fall in love with fictional heroes and heroines.

So, what's been happening in this blissful place?

1.  wrote an article for Bookriot entitled I Want These Feel-good Romance Novels to Hug Me Forever. Yes please.

2. Blush Magazine released their June issue with a free read by Trilina Pucci and 12 Sexy Fictional Dads (phoar!)

3. One of my fav authors, Kylie Scott, teamed up with Audrey Carlan to write Love Under Quarantine... While the world is ravaged by a global pandemic, hotshot NFL running back Evan Sparks is locked in his own personal hell. With a career-ending scandal on his back, Evan hides out in his best friend’s empty San Francisco home, the full city shutdown locking him in a lonely twenty-story apartment in the sky.

Romance writer Sadie Walsh is having the worst case of writer’s block ever…until the incredible, muscular stranger staying next door gets her muse going strong. The pair of loners, never expecting to find a friend in all the madness, meet each day out on their balconies like a modern-day Romeo and Juliet.

4. I've been publishing my current manuscript, After Today, chapter-by-chapter on Wattpad - you can ready it HERE!

The Hunter, by L.J Shen

L.J. Shen writes across a variety of sub-genres in the romance world, and in my humble opinion KICKS ASS in the New Adult category. Like, these 17- and 18-year old protagonists are having better sex than me. Hands down. I'm not kidding when I say that Shen writes *filthy* sex. It is so. so. good.

What made The Hunter a standout for me was the hero - Hunter. Dear god, this boy is witty and irreverent and cheeky. Entitled and arrogant also, but it's a prep romance, so that was to be expected. He comes out with quotes like: "Taking your coffee with milk is like going down on a woman with a condom on your tongue," and sends texts like this:

Hunter: Send n00dz.
I followed it up with a GIF of a dog humping a pillow. Courting in the twenty-first century was the shit.

Aundi from Musings of a Book Belle comments that Hunter is what book boyfriends are made of, with his wicked tongue and soft soul. Shen certainly has a distinctive way of writing adolescent males that will have you laughing out loud.

And the way she puts words together is pure mastery. Take this sentence, for example: "Rancid laughter, cheap alcohol and the scent of adrenaline and violence."
Bring on the prep school romances, these two are next on my TBR list...

Filthy Little Pretties,
by Trilina Pucci

Fallen Crest High,
by Tijan

WATCH > The COVID-19 romance novel we did not need, by Caleb Joseph. H.i.l.a.r.i.o.u.s.
The girl comes every. time. Sometimes multiple times. Always.
PS. In the spirit of isolation cliches, we adopted a kitten. His name is Buddy and, while our other two rescue cats were slightly miffed (at first), he's settled into life quiet nicely. Although he has been known to fall asleep on the job.
