VOICES FROM THE FIELD
With some 60 active implementing partners, the Food Security and Livelihoods Cluster (FSLC) South Turkey Hub coordinates support for IDPs and the most vulnerable people in Northwest Syria. These operations are made possible through the Syria-Turkey cross-border programme under UN Resolution 2533, enabling NGOs to reach 3.3 million people in need.
STORY 1
NADER
Some 2.8 million people have been forced to flee their homes over the last years of the conflict, with many living in the camps or hosted by local communities in Northwest Syria.
This is the story of Nader and his 6 children living in Atareb, on the frontline of the conflict.
Nader (38)  is now back in Atareb with his wife and six children, who were all displaced to Afrin in northern Aleppo at the start of 2020. After selling his assets and using up all his savings, Nader and his family were able to go back to their hometown, which was damaged by shelling during last year's military escalation.

Nader is supported through a regular food assistance project implemented by Takaful Al Sham, an FSL Cluster partner on cross-border programme in Northwest Syria.

While food and commodity prices soared and the purchasing power of the community fell sharply, Nader lost his job in construction because of the conflict and doesn’t currently have any other source of income: in-kind regular food basket distributions by FSL Cluster partners provide crucial assistance to vulnerable people like Nader and his young children.

Over time and with sustained support, millions of families like Nader’s will hopefully be able to get back on their feet and be able to provide for and feed themselves again.
