We have an amazing slate of events coming up these next few weeks. Of course, we have our first anniversary celebration, and we'll talk more about that next week -- we have six events planned for the weekend, some community-based, some author-based -- but we also have a bevy of great events coming up aside from our anniversary weekend, and we wanted to talk a little bit about those today.

Tomorrow, 11 am, Saturday Morning Story Time, Annie Cronin Romano: Annie is back to read Before You Sleep again! We held the launch party for this book back in October, and it is our all-time favorite bedtime book. Plus Annie is a great storyteller!

Sunday, 2 pm, Mid-Grade Fiction Event: MarcyKate Connolly and Monica Tesler: Both authors, who are based locally, write books in the fantasy/science fiction realm of middle-grade novels. Both have also just recently published their fourth book. MarcyKate, who came out last year for our Grand Opening celebration, has split her four books into two series. Her latest, Comet Rising, is the follow-up to last year's Shadow Weaver. Monica's books are all in the same series, the Bounders series. The latest is entitled The Heroes Return. Both women have created amazing universes, and we're excited to have them both!

Tuesday, 3/12, 6 pm, Mid-Grade Book Club with local author Rebecca Caprara: We can't say enough good things about Rebecca and the way she engages with kids at our middle grade book club. If you have a child who is interested in reading and writing stories, bring them, even if they haven't read the book. Our selection this month is The Parker Inheritance by Varian Johnson.

Saturday, 3/16, 11 am, Saturday Morning Story Time with April Jones Prince: Local author April has written several non-fiction books, but for this story time we are going to be focused on one of April's fictional books, Goldenlocks and the Three Pirates. With it being Women's History Month, we thought this would be a fun way to go - Goldenlocks (or Goldilocks, as she usually appears in stories) isn't a real person, but the character has deep roots in literature. April will also have a fun treasure hunt activity in store!

Saturday, 3/16, 5 pm, Young Adult Event with Karen McManus in conversation with Sara Farizan: Karen's first book, One Of Us Is Lying, has been on the New York Times bestsellers list for over a year. Her new book, Two Can Keep a Secret, immediately landed on the list as well. I read it and loved it, as did our bookseller Olivia, who made it her staff pick this month. She said the YA thriller scared her so much that after she finished she was afraid to be in her house by herself and had to go out and hang out with her friends. Karen will be in conversation with Sara Farizan, who we had out last year in support of her YA novel, Here to Stay. Sara is one of our absolute favorite people, and we're excited to welcome her back.

Friday, 3/29, 7 pm, Sci-Fi Event with Anders Cahill: A local author who grew up in Concord, and came recommended to us from our friends at Orange Door Kitchen, Anders has done a rare thing - he's written an independently published novel that has drawn praise from Kirkus Reviews. In our first year, we have noticed that Kirkus Reviews tends to be the hardest to impress, but Anders did it. Of Gradient, his sci-fi novel, they said:  "A heroic cosmic odyssey... that approaches the sublime in sci-fi lyricism. Textured with the stuff of legend, stirring and ultimately melancholy."

Saturday, 3/30, 11 am, Saturday Morning Story Time with Jamie L.B. Deenihan: Jamie's debut book, When Grandma Gives You a Lemon Tree, has received praise from both Booklist and Kirkus Reviews. The book, about a grandmother who gives her granddaughter an unwanted birthday gift of a lemon tree, is a pretty literal interpretation of the classic phrase, and delightfully so!

Sunday, 3/31. 2 pm, Cookbook Event with Leigh Belanger: Leigh's cookbook, My Kitchen Chalkboard, evolved from trying to plan her family's meals a week at a time. It's not only a great cookbook, but a great guidebook to help you do the same. She'll be joined by Greg Georgaklis, the founder of Farmers To You.

And that's just in March. In April, we will welcome Maynard native and bestselling author Julie Berry, New York Times baseball scribe Tyler Kepner, and we'll host two great local authors -- Ali Benjamin and Jessica Barry -- on Independent Bookstore Day.

So, keep our Events Calendar handy! There's always something going on at The Silver Unicorn!

We were very fortunate to be featured in this Boston Globe Magazine article alongside our fellow bookstores Brookline Booksmith, Porter Square Books, Print Ain't Dead and Trident Booksellers & Cafe. You can read the article here, and you should see it in print in this Sunday's edition.
