Pre-ordering books (i.e. purchasing a book before its release date) is something that simply didn't happen that much a decade ago. Even today, it's not a widely common practice for bookstores. We've received plenty of pre-orders ourselves, especially for last year's two Dog Man releases and the Diary of a Wimpy Kid release. We've made it a point to highlight that store members get a 20% discount on any books that they pre-order. But we've never had a spot to collect them all. Now, we do!

Starting today, we've added a "Pre-Orders" page to our website. The above 10 books are all included. With some of them, you can get an autographed copy or some other sort of swag when you pre-order. Some are just titles we think you'll want to know about, like the new Diary of an Awesome Friendly Kid book by Jeff Kinney that is out next Tuesday. The page will be continuously updated, so as we find books that we're excited about, we'll be sure to share them with you there!

  • Saturday, 11 am: The Writer's Loft, An Assortment of Animals, 11 am: Stop by for Saturday Morning Story Time. April is National Poetry Month, and writers from The Writers Loft are going to treat us to a poetry safari!
  • Saturday, 1 pm: Acton-Boxborough Elementary Jazz Band: We're excited to welcome the jazz band back. They did an awesome job the first time around, and the store is a happier place when it's filled with live music!
  • Wednesday, 7 pm: Tyler Kepner, K: A History of Baseball in Ten Pitches, in conversation with Chad Finn: We are so excited about our event next week with Tyler (who writes from The New York Times) and Chad (who writes for The Boston Globe). This is one of the best sports books of the year, and my staff pick for the month!
We have partnered with Audiobooks. When you purchase books or memberships through, we get compensated! You can learn more about on the newly-created Audiobooks page of our website, but the main highlights are:
    - is independently owned, unlike
Audible, which is owned by Amazon.
    - Unlike with Audible, you will own books you
      purchase from DRM-free, meaning
you can play it on any device you want!
Well-Read Black Girl Book Club: Revolutionary Woods

We are forming a Well-Read Black Girl Book Club chapter at the store, called the Revolutionary Woods. Our Friday Fiction Book Club leader Kyra Wilson Cook is heading it up, and she hopes to hold the first meeting in May. If you're interested, check out the group's Facebook page and newsletter to keep abreast of book selections and engage with other members!
