Program Spotlight: Emergency Grants
Natural disasters, such as severe hurricanes or flooding, or catastrophic events can pose significant challenges to veterinary teams who need to keep their clinics open to continue to provide care. The crisis situations can have devastating effects, including a clinic closing due to delayed insurance payments or insufficient funds to secure a temporary shelter. With the support of the AmerisourceBergen Foundation, NOMV leaders developed the Emergency Grants program, which provides financial assistance to veterinary clinics that are at risk of closing due to a natural disaster, pandemic or catastrophic event.
“Throughout the COVID-19 pandemic, veterinary workers have shown tremendous resilience and a commitment to overcoming challenges to protect the health of animals in our communities,” said Gina Clark, president of the AmerisourceBergen Foundation. “By supporting this new program, our goal is to help veterinarians when they need it the most. We hope this will provide them with the resources needed to remain open in the aftermath of a natural disaster so they can stay focused on what matters the most—their wellbeing and the health of their patients.”
