NOMV News

Our mission is to transform the status of mental wellness within the profession so all veterinary professionals can survive and thrive through education, resources, and support.

We're proud to report that throughout the month we completed more than 5 laps around the world, raised over $242,000 USD, had over 2,000 races.
2021 Race Around the World

At NOMV we could not be more proud of everyone that joined in on the 2021 Race Around the World! We had walkers, runners, cyclists, horseback riders, roller skaters and swimmers.

You showing up for our race to support veterinary wellbeing during Suicide Prevention Month means the world to us. Thank you so very much to anyone who raced or donated to this wildly successful event.

Dr. Bill Wagner, one of the AVP Co-Founders is committed to transforming mental health. Dr. Bill felt it was important to approach NOMV about sponsoring at the Hero level.

AVP is a vet-founded and vet-operated group that wants to make it easier to practice gold standard medicine with full clinical autonomy. They enable veterinarians to focus on caring for their patients without having to think about HR, recruiting, and other non-clinical tasks.

Volunteer Spotlight: Sydni Martin, CVT

This week we're highlighting our amazing NOMV volunteers, Sydni!

Sydni volunteers for NOMV because she is “someone who has been through extreme trauma and always struggled with my mental health. I love my job and I love being in this field. It’s what I was put on our Earth to do. Being a CVT for a non-profit low-cost hospital, I see evidence daily of the desperate need for and importance of making a change to our industry as a whole. Veterinary medicine is a tough tough business, but I think that through education, altering mindsets, expectations, and standards, and providing support to the veterinary community, we will actually turn this field around and make some big important changes. And save lives. After all, isn’t that really our goal in vet med? To save lives and minimize/alleviate suffering? That refers to us too, friends!! We need to take care of ourselves like we do our patients!”

Sydni is committed to the NOMV mission because she wants “to do my part to work towards it in my own little way, every single day. Mental wellness is crucial to be able to do this job well, in the long term. I can’t be held responsible for other people’s attitudes or mindsets, but I can uphold my own, stay positive and supportive, and encourage others to do the same. Long-term sustainability is possible with a good support system!”
