Alleluia! Christ is Risen

Our gospel for this Easter morning from Matthew tells us a story that is very different from our ‘normal’ Easter celebration. The two women named Mary approach a tomb in quiet, lonely longing. They do not expect to find an empty tomb or a message of resurrection. They do not expect to hear about new life in the face of death.

Read Bishop Jason's Easter Message, or download it to distribute to your congregation.

Together we pray.

O God, you gave your only Son to suffer death on the cross for our redemption, and by his glorious resurrection you delivered us from the power of death. Make us die every day to sin, that we may live with him forever in the joy of the resurrection, through your Son, Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and forever.
Please pray for Pastor Rebecca Graham and her family following the death of her father on April 7th. Please also pray for her partner Remi; her mother, Ina; sister, Samantha; nephews David & Michael.

Synod Staff Change

With thankfulness to God for her faithful ministry, we say farewell to Debbie Beyer who is retiring after many years of supporting the financial and administrative ministry of the synod. Read a farewell message from Debbie.  Financial questions can be directed to Donna Jackson (

Giving Thanks for Pastors and Congregational Leaders

While Covid-19 has caused us to stay at home, pastors and congregational leaders have been diligently continuing guiding ministry.  Leaders have had to learn new ways to facilitate worship and ministry, stay connected with the congregation, and serve the community, while also adjusting the changing dynamics at home.  Lent is already a season of added ministry stress, and this season of Lent added an unexpected challenges.  But congregations met that challenge and continued to offer worship and service in new ways. We give thanks for all the ways we continue to be the hands and feet of Christ.  As this time of physical distancing continues, we hope you find ways to share encouragement and support with those offering vital leadership in our congregations.
We know that how congregations do ministry has changed over the last two months.  We want to share stories about how your congregation is continuing to minister to each other and to the community around you.  Send in a brief write-up with one or two pictures to the synod office, and help us celebrate the various ways we continue to be church in this changing time. You can send pictures and stories to Michelle Collins at
It is essential that congregations and the synod continue receiving financial support, even in this time when we are not gathering for worship. Through our webpage you are able to donate to your congregation or synod ministry by credit card or Paypal.
The Festival of Homiletics (May 18-22) is moving online! And because there’s no better time than our current crisis to learn how to “preach a new earth,” registration for the virtual conference is totally FREE!
