COVID-19 Updates

Grace and peace to you in the name of Christ.

It seems that there are updates and changes each day. Please continue to check the MNO Synod website and the ELCIC website for ongoing updates. If you think that other information should be added, please email us to let us know.

Please continue to pray.

Your clergy, leaders, communities, and countries across the world need others to hold them up in prayer during this time. Please know that others are praying for you as well.
Manitoba Health has released a new Public Health Order. All ministries, including the MNO Synod Office, are required to work remotely Apr. 1-14. There is an exception for ministers to continue live-streaming worship services from the church building.

During this time, Synod staff will continue to work but will only be accessible through email:
Bishop Jason Zinko:  mnobishop@elcic.ca
Donna Jackson:  mnosynod@elcic.ca
Deacon Michelle Collins:  mcollins@elcic.ca
We have provided a solution for congregations to continue receiving financial support. Through our webpage you are able to donate to your congregation or synod ministry by credit card or Paypal. Please continue to support your local congregation.
MNO Synod is compiling resources and materials for clergy, congregations, and members to use. It will be updated as we receive information. Click here.

The ELCIC National Office is maintaining a list of resources as well. Be sure to check the “Livestreaming Resources” link on the left side of the page.
The Lutheran World Federation is working on Holy Week resources and sample liturgies. They offer local communities the possibility to experience a deeper sense of the global nature of our Lutheran communion by jointly worshipping, while physically distant, and in many cases confined to their homes. Links will be shared when available.
Many have asked for guidance about liturgical practices, specifically on-line communion.
Bishop Jason has sent correspondence to our rostered leaders with recommendations and guidelines.
Social isolation presents a significant mental health concern. Please stay connected with each other by phone, email, video, social media, etc. This is a crucial time for us to live out the gospel in our service to others. Please also consider how you can reach out to your neighbours, friends, and families – particularly seniors and other people vulnerable to infection.
Registration Updates
At this time, registration for the 2020 CLAY gathering have been suspended until April 30. Please see the CLAY website for more info.

MNO Synod Bus trip registration deadline has been extended to April 30. Contact the synod office with any questions.

Synod Staff Change

In the midst of all that is going on, we also say good-bye to Debbie Beyer who has decided that the time is right for her retirement. Her last day will be in mid-April. We will have more information and a proper good-bye in a future newsletter.
