Donna Rourke is the Youth Internship Program Leader for the Diocese of Ottawa. She helped create the program and leads it with compassion and authenticity. They were able to quickly adapt to Zoom meetings when the pandemic hit and were incredibly responsive to the needs of the interns as they struggled to adapt. She will lead an activity with us that was very popular with her group of interns. It will be a tool in your tool chest for your next Zoom meeting.

After we play, Gretchen (ELCIC) and Sheilagh (ACC) will provide a CLAY update as you might be curious about how planning is coming along as we shift CLAY 2021 online.

Book Study

This year we will look at the book Delighted – What teenagers are teaching the Church about Joy. This study will start in mid-April and will meet 6 times over 12 weeks. We will send out a doodle poll in later March to determine who wants to come and what time works best for everyone who is interested. If you have any questions about that, please be in touch!

The March MNO Synod youth leader monthly gathering/brainstorm session is on March 10 at 7pm via Zoom.

The focus of this gathering will be inviting and including youth in leadership. As we anticipate planning synod youth ministry for 2021-2022, how might we invite youth to be part of the planning?

LLLF is here to develop leaders in the church and for the world. It provides grants and bursaries to enable young people to participate in leadership training and development activities. In the past, $500 grants have been awarded. Leadership training can include online education and training events.

Not sure what the LLLF is all about? Read more about the program here!

To find out more information on who and which projects can apply for funding, and to complete an application, please visit: https://www.elcic.ca/Youth/LuthernLeagueLegacyFund.cfm. Deadline is on March 1.

Climate Justice - Call to Action!

If you are a youth (children and families are welcome!) or young adult who is passionate about the environment and climate change, please see the infographic and click the link to participate in a brief survey.

The ELCIC is building a network of young adults and youth who would like to engage the church in some climate discussions and assist the ELCIC in working towards the goal of becoming carbon neutral by 2050. Come and join the conversation!

Young Adult Zoom gathering on Feb. 22 --Guided Creative Expression

The Young Adult gathering on Feb. 22 will be a guided time for creative expression, led by Sister Michelle Walka. We will explore the theme of “Let There Be” through creative expression and prayer practice. During our virtual time together, we will work through a creative project, dwelling with self-care (in mind, body, and spirit) and how this connects to our faith and life along the way. No art experience or special skills are needed.

More information about this event, along with a list of supplies participants are invited to bring to the gathering is HERE.
