Second Year Project Results - engaging solution providers

Dear FIRE-IN Friend,

We would like to inform you about the latest developments in the FIRE-IN project. This issue is mainly focused on the second Annual Dissemination workshop and the innovative solutions presented by providers during the workshop. We hope that engaging providers of innovative solutions for Fire and Rescue will become the main theme of our next workshop and will enable us to create a true interactive e-FIRE-IN platform for constant exchange between practitioners, research, private sector and standardisation bodies!

The next FIRE-IN Annual Dissemination workshop will take place during the Interschutz Fair in Hannover, Germany on 18th June 2020.

Have a happy and safe summer!

Second Annual Dissemination Workshop

The second FIRE-IN Annual Dissemination workshop was hosted by the Catalan Fire and Rescue Service in Barcelona on 15 May 2019. 82 participants from 15 European countries took part in the event. This year the workshop focused on showcasing the preliminary results of the project and supporting direct interactions with solution providers. During the morning session, project partners presented the results from the 10 workshops, in which 120 experts from 19 countries explored different challenges through real-life scenarios such as a plane crash in the mountains or a road tunnel fire. This exercise helped the FIRE-IN partners to identify the most pressing issues, which should be prioritised by research and industry.

The project’s innovative web-based e-FIRE-IN platform was also presented during the workshop. The e-FIRE-IN platform will facilitate interactions between practitioners, researchers, industry and standardization bodies, and will serve as a useful tool for innovation monitoring, requesting ideas, results’ publication and events organisation. The e-FIRE-IN release is scheduled for mid-2020.

For the afternoon session, the organisers invited 12 representatives from the private sector, researchers and other partners from EU-funded and national projects in the field of Fire and Rescue to present their solutions and engage them in a discussion on how these solutions can be applied to the identified challenges.

The project partners agreed that solution providers should be invited to the remaining annual dissemination workshops as the format is useful for creating meaningful connections within the network! Check the photos from the workshop here!
