NASCOE Legislative Update on FY 2023 Appropriations
Clint Bain and David McBryde, Legislative Co-Chairs
December 16, 2022
The House passed another continuing resolution on Wednesday, December 14th, and the Senate followed suit on Thursday, December 15th keeping the Government funded through December 23, 2022. The bill will now be sent to the President for approval later today.
As previously reported, this second CR will provide both House and Senate negotiators additional time to finalize Fiscal Year 2023 appropriations and move the final legislation through both the full House and Senate.
When the dust settles, we expect an increase to Farm Service Agency salaries and expenses and continuation of previous year’s legislative language. In addition, the Congress is considering significant funding for 2022 agriculture disasters. Any disaster program will likely cover losses from crop year 2022.
YOUR NASCOE Legislative team will continue to closely monitor the negotiations progress and provide membership updates. For now, we still have no reason to expect a Government shutdown.
