As the leaves turn to radiant reds, yellows and oranges and fall registrations transform into actual leagues for our members, we think about the exciting changes happening within our association. Our Founder, Galen Beers, has moved into a new role as our Strategic Advisor, and Krissy Greenleaf has taken over as the Executive Director. The recent website revamp is proving to be a smart investment, and the goal of this year's EC members to partner up on initiatives to keep them moving forward is making a huge difference in productivity and new idea generation. As we continue to evolve, please guide us in how you want the SSIA to best serve you!
In this month's newsletter, we want to remind you to take advantage of our SSIA Partner and Sponsor offerings AND Early Bird Registration for the upcoming 2019 Conference, along with updating your member profile on the SSIA website and other important announcements. We will also share conference-related information, welcome two new members and welcome back another, highlight a Platinum Sponsor, and give you the skinny on National Happy Hour Day, which is coming up on November 12th.
If you have any questions or comments, or would like to be considered for a future Highlight opportunity, please contact Krissy at email@example.com.

Notes From Your Executive Directors, Past and Present
It is my pleasure to announce the promotion of Krissy Greenleaf to Executive Director of the SSIA! Krissy has been an outstanding Associate Director and has been working with me to transition into the Executive Director role over the past few months. Since joining the SSIA as a member/owner in 2014, Krissy has shown that she can not only run a successful business but also lead this organization forward based on her work ethic and passion for the industry. Please join me in congratulating Krissy and supporting her as our new leader!
When we started this organization in 2010, I had no idea what it would look like in 8 years or how successful it would become… reality has blown away my expectations. We are not just a strong non-profit trade organization, we are a community (dare I say, family) of entrepreneurs trying to take what most outsiders think “must be a hobby” to a full blown industry where only the lucky ones get in and truly live/love what they do for a living. Thank you all so much for following your true north and for thinking big and bold about what the Social Sports Industry can become one day.
As for me, I’m galloping into the sunset. Just kidding! My goal is to always be here to support and add value to this industry (or at least as long as you will have me). I will be staying on as a Strategic Advisor to the Executive Committee which will involve continuing to support the organization’s data, financial and growth initiatives. Thanks again for being a part of this special group, and for allowing Krissy and I to do what we love. We can’t wait to see everyone at the conference in St. Pete this February!
~ Galen Beers
"Wherever the fates lead us let us follow." This quote by the famous poet, Virgil, has really resonated with me both personally and professionally over the past few years.
When I started playing kickball with VAVi back in 2009, I never would have guessed that I'd be inspired to start my own SSC a few years later, which would lead me to joining the SSIA, which would lead to running for the EC, starting the Marketing Sub-Committee, selling my business to Club Sport, accepting the role as Associate Director, and now transitioning to Executive Director!
It's been wonderful working with so many of you over the 5 years that I have been involved with the SSIA, witnessing the evolution of your businesses and relationships with one another. Isn't it crazy to think that each of us was new at one point and unsure of what we'd get out of our membership? For me, it was initially the cost savings on insurance and shirts that hooked me. The more I got involved, though, the more I realized that it was the relationships formed that were the most valuable to me. This sentiment still rings true, as I wouldn't be in this position without having nurtured those relationships along the way. To say that I am beyond thankful and honored to accept my new role is a HUGE understatement and I'm looking forward to continue working with Galen and the EC to serve you.
As we move into this new season within the association's history, please ask yourself what your membership means to you and share that with me. My ears are open and I'm excited to see what's next.
~ Krissy Greenleaf
P.S. - I found it fitting to include this photo of me and my friends who I unexpectedly ran into while I was in Maui a few weeks' back. These two met while playing in Kaboom, moved to San Diego in 2016, and were on their honeymoon! Guess Virgil knew what he was talking about!
