2018 EC Retreat Recap
The Executive Committee met in St. Petersburg, FL from June 11th-13th for the 2018 EC Retreat to set goals and determine the budget for FY 2019, evaluate current initiatives, and have a little fun along the way. We'd like to say at BIG "Thank You" to Chris and Tracey Giebner and their team at Club Sport for their hospitality...and congrats to Omid Rafiei, Ian Elston and Bob Downing of Team Red for dominating at Inner Tube Water Polo!
Please review the minutes HERE for details on what was discussed. Email email@example.com with any questions or comments.
Every year, the EC discusses its upcoming budget in regards to expected and historical income / expenses of the association. A membership sub-committee was developed to address the issue of membership structure and dues. They identified a trend obvious in our industry: consolidation. This is affecting the SSIA’s budget. As clubs merge or are purchased, this reduces the number of dues-paying members while reducing the overall income of the SSIA - income that is needed to fund our administration needs as well as various projects important to members.
In an attempt to be fair to not only the small clubs, but the larger ones as well - many of whom are getting larger by this market trend - a tiered membership structure was suggested and approved. It splits membership levels into 3 tiers based on self-reported annual club income. We trust all clubs to report honestly in their annual reporting survey; however, if required by SSIA staff, this self-reported annual income may be required to be validated by a CPA letter or similar method called out in the membership agreement.
Each membership level, or tier, will have a separate member fee, as well as entitlements associated with it. These will be effective immediately upon your club’s renewal date, following a 2 week member comment period ending at noon EST on July 16th, 2018.
The Chicago Sport and Social Club is excited to announce a new tournament and travel opportunity for SSIA members this Labor Day Weekend. The Chicago Social AVP Tournament is a beach volleyball tournament on one of the world’s premier beaches for beach volleyball, North Avenue Beach. CSSC is producing the tournament in collaboration with the AVP during the AVP Chicago Open Championship a mile down the shore at Oak St. Beach. The tournament includes amateur 4’s and 6’s beach volleyball formats in a one-day tournament Saturday, September 1.

Included throughout the weekend will be a pre-tournament party on Friday and a post-tournament party on Saturday, and access to the AVP Gold Series Championship on Sunday at Oak St. Beach. There are three hotel partners with availability and discounted rates if rooms are booked before August 1.
