You did it! Thanks to you, we reached our 2021 NewsMatch fundraising goal!
We set out to raise $10,000, which was guaranteed to be matched by a consortium of NewsMatch funders. Later in the campaign, we found out there was more money on the table, and that Dallas Free Press had been chosen by a group of DEI-focused funders to receive an additional match, based on our work to serve communities of color.
Over the course of November and December, you gave more than $14,000 toward our community journalism efforts in South Dallas and West Dallas. More than $10,000 of that is eligible for matching funds from NewsMatch. All in all, we'll receive more than $33,000, thanks to your generosity.
As the donations rolled in, it energized us to see the names of people we've known for a lifetime, and of people we've never met. We received support from our neighbors in South Dallas and West Dallas, as well as from people who live on the East and West Coasts. Our donors included fellow journalists, both local and nationwide, and Dallas folks who have long been staunch supporters of civic and community-focused journalism.
To each one of you — thank you for being a partner in this impactful work.
We'd also like to give a big thank you to our 2021 major funding partners for their belief in our work:
Our gratitude goes out to everyone who has contributed to our newsroom this past year. Whether you've given time and talent, insights and feedback, or donations and support, YOU are what makes our work so strong and impactful.
