Hello and welcome to our Autumn Newsletter!

As we edge closer to the colder months, our job of securing homeless and vulnerable adults with a home of their own becomes increasingly important. Homelessness is an issue all year round, but with temperatures set to reach an all-time-low, it's our preparation and foundation work now, that will make the difference this winter. Once again we have an array of inspirational stories from our beneficiaries, updates on our projects and details on how with the support of you, our generous donors, we are changing the lives of homeless and vulnerable adults in Nottingham.
I hope you enjoy reading about how your support continues to make a difference. Please get in touch for more information or to arrange a visit to see first-hand how your support is making the difference.
Thank you,
Denis Tully, CEO

The Nottingham Winter Shelter Opens

As many of you will be aware, Emmanuel House coordinates the Nottingham Winter Shelter, an essential winter project providing vital overnight accommodation for the city’s rough-sleepers.
On Monday 8th October, the Nottingham Winter Shelter opened its doors and began its six month journey of providing shelter, support and working in partnership with the city’s most vulnerable adults to help change their lives. Read more here

Womanuel Project

‘Fun and Enjoyable, ‘A place to come and feel safe’, ‘Friendly’, ‘A place I feel comfortable to talk’, ‘No judgment’ and ‘Opportunity to try new things’.
When Womanuel started at the beginning of 2018, the Wellbeing Support Team who are responsible for organising and running the project, could never have dreamed of feedback and comments from participants such as this.
But this week, six months on, it’s clear to see that the Lottery-funded project, partly facilitated by Non Such, is not only a success, but has also had a fantastic impact on the lives of those involved. Read more about the feedback here

Elaine's Story

“I was fortunate enough to have access to the Nottingham Winter Shelter last year and it saved my life. I spent a year and a half on the streets, on and off, between accommodation and the Nottingham Winter Shelter saved my life".

Volunteer Spotlight: Jen

Volunteering holds many rewards; an opportunity to do something in your local community for people in need. It can provide a safe, welcoming environment to connect with people who are experiencing homelessness or isolation. It offers a chance to build new relationships, learning new skills and put creative talents to good use! Jen works full time as an Assistant Professor in Media and volunteers two hours a week at Emmanuel House.

Here’s what she had to say about volunteering with us.

Thank you for your support this Harvest

Once again we have been overwhelmed by your support and generosity. We have been inundated with with not only the usual donations, but specifically the things that we have requested and require the most. Thank you so much for taking the time and effort to help bring the Harvest to Emmanuel House this year. As Harvest draws to a close, we begin to turn our thoughts to the colder monthsn and in turn, the winter and the Christmas period.
We will soon be launching our Christmas campaign and look forward to sharing with you our plans to make Winter 2018 the best yet for Emmanuel House.
