This week's topic is a discussion of Jesus as an anti-hero. No preparation is required and it is ok to participate even if you missed the first two sessions. We meet in the lounge and on Zoom (Same Zoom link as used for worship.)

Update from the Moderator
Dear Members and Friends of Lyonsville Congregational U.C.C..
At the last leadership council meeting on February 21, we revisited the timeline for worship services this spring. Previously, it was presented at the October congregational meeting that Sunday, April 16 would be the final worship service in the chapel. It was decided by the leadership council that weekly worship services will continue after Sunday, April 16 until our dissolution service on Sunday, May 21, 2023. We continue to be blessed for the individuals who plan our worship services and we hope you can join us.
Blessings,
Sanna Bashor

NEWS FROM THE PEWS
(If you have any news you would like to share with the congregation, please contact Nayna Byers.)
If you would like to bring a snack to share, please let Sanna Bashor or Nayna Byers know so we can plan accordingly.
- Continued prayers for Bob Haigh, Rosemary Klitchman, Barbara Wyne, and Barbara Loehman.
- Every month a group of Lyonsville members/friends have breakfast together, usually at 9:00am on the first Saturday of each month. If you would like to be on the invite list, please contact Judy Birmingham and provide your email and she will include you.
- Lyonsville Choir: We are looking for people who would like to sing in the choir on our last Sunday together at Lyonsville, May 21st. Mike Molloy has chosen the anthem "How Can I Keep From Singing". If you are interested, please contact Judy Birmingham.
- At Sunday worship 3/26, Linda Clarke and Bill Gurin joined Lyonsville as members by affirmation of Baptism. We are blessed to have them with us. Linda was baptized in this church, and married here, and feels fortunate to be living in her family home in unincorporated Western Springs. She is now back and glad to be rededicating to Lyonsville. She is a descendent of the Vial family, founders of our church. She never imagined Lyonsville would close and looks to that day with sadness. Bill was born and raised in Forest Park and now resides in Countryside. He lost his father when he was 15 and since has lost his brother and mother, but still has a sister to call family. He has two adult children, Billy Jr. and Megan. He was born and baptized in the Russian Orthodox Church. In 1977 he became Catholic. He stopped going to church in the early 2000's but has continued his journey of faith ever since. He has worked for the same company for almost 44 years. Linda and Bill have been dating for 9 years and have been attending worship and fellowship regularly since 2021. Welcome Linda and Bill to our family of faith.

Scholarship Update
Lyonsville has been fortunate to have two scholarships available, funded by the Pavlus and the Karas families. The Pavlus Scholarship, which has been available since 1979, has a little over $10,000 left. Since we are closing soon, the Leadership Council contacted Paul Pavlus's children and who have requested us to disperse the balance of this fund split between The LeaderShop (scholarship fund) in La Grange and the Lyonsville Cemetery Association. We are in the process of making that happen.
The Karas Scholarship, which has been available since 2008, has about $21,000 available. Although we usually award this scholarship annually in the fall, we will be accepting applications one last time before we close and plan to award the balance of the funds. Please note the following:
If you have any questions, please contact Nayna or Judy/Scholarship Committee

COVID GUIDELINES FOR LYONSVILLE
We understand that combining three main precautions reliably leads to safe indoor gatherings: mask wearing, distancing, and ventilation. Our policies are consistent with guidance and requirements from local, state, and federal public health authorities and our wider United Church of Christ. As conditions change, we will continue to review and adjust these policies.
- Throughout the building, masks are optional, but encouraged, for everyone two years of age and older, regardless of vaccination status.
- As a courtesy to the welfare of all, please provide safe space to others.
- Windows will be open to provide ventilation whenever possible.
- Please do not attend in-person worship if you are experiencing any Covid-like symptoms
For the safety of us all, we request good-natured adherence to these policies. Thank you.
