Rapinoe takes it all

Megan Rapinoe's penalty gave USWNT the vital lead and her the vital goal to clinch the World Cup & the Golden Boot against a battling Netherlands. She also picked up the Golden Ball award as player of the tournament on a wonderful night for the USA once again.

Netherlands goalkeeper Sari van Veenendaal did everything she could to keep USA out making 8 saves, a record for this year's knockout stage. There was nothing she could do once VAR rightly stepped in to award a penalty after Morgan was fouled and then a brilliant Rose Lavelle goal sealed it.

It was always going to be difficult for Netherlands in their first ever WWC final. The 26 goals scored by USA at France 19 is a record for a single WWC tournament and they proved an unstoppable force.
