Message from President & Founder Troy Ashby:

Fall is rapidly approaching and one thing is for sure: we have entered a new season.

Nearly everyone I know is in a transitional time. Some are going back to the office after months of remote work. Others are helping their children navigate online learning and zoom chat rooms, while others are doing the opposite and preparing to send their children back to school.

Many of our clients are starting new jobs this month, while we have helped others onboard new hires with COVID-friendly practices.

This transitional period can be scary and uncertain, but it’s also exciting. It’s a sign of progress.

From our decreasing unemployment rate to COVID recovery stories, it’s clear that 2020 is slowly but surely recovering.

Unemployment Update:

Despite all earlier predictions, the unemployment rate continues to drop every month. In July, unemployment sat at 10.2% and in August, that number decreased yet again to 8.4%. The unemployment rate for those with a Bachelor’s degree or higher also decreased from 6.7% to 5.3%.

There is one word that has stuck out in my mind the past few weeks: Resilience.

Whether you’re on your second month of looking for a new job or you’ve recently hired 10 new remote employees or you’re supervising your child’s Zoom classes for the first time- be resilient. Things will get better- they already are! Employment rates are dropping, COVID restrictions are changing- hope is here.

As the old saying goes, “It's not how many times you get knocked down that count, it's how many times you get back up. ”

Social Buzz:

The number of laid-off Americans applying for unemployment benefits fell below 1 million last week for the first time since the Coronavirus pandemic started in mid-March.
