A Message from Pastor Sally

We have been busy at Camp Luther! Swimming, a camp-wide cook-out, crafts, creek-stomp a dance for intermediate and senior camps, and morning class times to explore the Bible and grow in their faith. Plus, four square games and worship services with loud singing, dancing, and clapping - these highlights describe some of the excellent parts of being at Camp Luther.

Gabby Wharran, John Andrews, and Katharine Andrews have been at Camp Luther from Sunday, 19 June, until 25 June. Be sure and ask them to tell you about their experiences. They will have stories to tell!

Thank you to everyone who has prayed for our campers, sent them cards, and will welcome them home.

VBS Report by Carolyn Clauson-Andrews
Vacation Bible School was held at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Washington Street, from June 13th through June 16th. Five churches participated this year: St. Paul's, St. Luke's, Souls Won Ministries on Virginia Ave., Metropolitan AME Church on Frederick Street, and First Presbyterian Church on Washington Street. The theme was: Renew, Sow Seeds, Grow Roots, Growing, and Challenges, all based on the Parable of the Sower in Matthew, Chapter 13, verses 1-17. All crafts, games, food, and stories telling were also based on this Parable. Three members of St. Luke's attended: Carolyn Clauson-Andrews helped with registration & group leading, and John Andrews helped with food preparation, serving, and clean-up. Kate Andrews helped with crafts and the opening and closing puppet shows. Over 20 children ages 5 through 11 attended this year.

We are hoping more children will participate next year since usually, 40 children attend. Unfortunately, the pandemic continues to influence attendance numbers. The feedback from the children and parents participating in a family day on 6/16 was very positive. John, Kate, and Carolyn certainly had a good time. New Convent Methodist Church plans to have VBS sometime in August if they have enough volunteers. Please contact Carolyn Clauson-Andrews at 302-759-3741 if you are interested in being a helper or have children that may want to attend. As plans progress, more information will be provided in the St. Luke's bulletins. Thank you.

Ways to Give

St. Luke's has multiple ways to submit your offerings and donations. We encourage you to set up an automated giving schedule. Our online giving portal lets you easily set up a recurring gift via your debit card, credit card, pay pal credit, or checking account. Click here to access.

Give via Check. 2022 Offering Envelopes are ready and in the Narthex for pick-up. Checks can be made payable to "St. Luke's Lutheran Church" and dropped off, or mailed to 1601 Frederick Street, Cumberland, MD 21502

Gift of Stocks & Mutual Funds
Giving appreciated assets - such as stock - often allows you to maximize a gift. Typically, you can receive a tax deduction for the value of the stock on the day it was given, regardless of the cash basis (original purchase price) of the stock. Capital gains taxes are avoided.

Estate Planning
Setting up a well-designed estate plan may protect your loved ones from expensive probate taxes, allowing you to use the savings to leave a legacy gift for the Church.

If you are interested in more information about the options contact info@stlukescumberland.org today.
