As I reflect on the end of 2019, my goal for the New Year is to do all that I can to ensure that we have clinical trials and studies focused on Lobular Breast Cancer to inform the best treatments for invasive lobular breast cancer (ILC).
This has been a goal of the Lobular Breast Cancer Alliance since launching three years ago. The LBCA works closely with a scientific advisory board of breast cancer researchers and clinicians having expertise in ILC. Every day it promotes and inspires research that advances prevention, diagnosis, treatment and follow-up care for persons with ILC. There is no other organization like the LBCA.
I just returned from the prestigious San Antonio Breast Cancer Symposium which is attended by thousands of breast cancer researchers, oncology professionals and advocates from around the world. Our team of advocates from LBCA presented a poster on information needs of patients living with lobular breast cancer that shared findings from a survey of our website users and highlighted the critical absence of information on lobular breast cancer to inform patient treatment decisions and patients' frustration about lack of clear treatment guidelines and adequate research. We represented patient needs and spoke out for patients living with lobular breast cancer at this important forum.
We have come a long way in the two years since LBCA's website was launched. But there is still so much to do and we need your support.
