Research Advocate Education Opportunity

Susan G. Komen is partnering with the Lobular Breast Cancer Alliance to present a webinar on “Lobular Breast Cancer: A Different Disease” as part of their Susan G. Komen Advocates in Science (AIS) Webinar Series Monday, March 16, 2020 at 12 p.m. CT (10 a.m. PT/1 p.m. ET).

Komen Scholar Steffi Oesterreich, PhD, and Leigh Pate, LBCA Director and Komen AIS member, will present an overview of lobular breast cancer and will explore some of the unique biological aspects of the disease and its differences and offer ways advocates can include lobular breast cancer in breast cancer research and patient and provider educational opportunities. Patients and others interested in research advocacy are encouraged join this webinar and to learn more about Susan G. Komen Advocates in Science, Susan G. Komen's research advocacy community.

The breakout session entitled Medical Update: Lobular Breast Cancer will be led by LBCA Scientific Advisor Rachel Jankowitz, MD.  The Conference, Metastatic Breast Cancer: Thriving Together will be held April 17 - 19, 2020 in Philadelphia.  Register by March 13th for early bird registration rates.  Limited travel grants are available.

The National Breast Cancer Coalition (NBCC) is hosting their 2020 Advocate Leadership Summit in Washington DC May 2-5th. 

The Summit offers sessions with top researchers and advocates, as well as activities that support NBCC's goal of ending breast cancer. LBCA Scientific Advisory Board Chair Steffi Oesterreich, PhD will present an educational workshop: Insights into Breast Cancer Subtypes and the Unique Biology of Lobular Breast Cancer with Lori Petitti, Deputy Director of LBCA to provide NBCC's policy and research advocates a basic background in lobular breast cancer and its differences from ductal cancers.
