"I don't know how we are going to feed children and how to implement the project with low rate of euro and expensive prices"
Mira Itikeeva
executive director Center for the Protection of Children
The whole world is experiencing the negative consequences of Russia's invasion of Ukraine. Kyrgyzstan, the country where we support underprivileged children, is like Ukraine a former Soviet republic and is particularly affected by the sanctions imposed on Russia. The import of grain and sugar from Russia has stopped. The prices of food are soaring, and the rubles of relatives working in Russia are worth nothing anymore. There is no question of compensation by the government.
A selection of the current price increases:
> potatoes +80%
> white rice 0%
> fresh vegetables +90%
> meat/chicken +25%
> apples +100%
> dried fruit +41%
> sugar +31%
> flour +9%
> vegetable oil +8%
> tea +65%

> milk +80%
About 75 children come daily for a hot meal at the two day care centers of the Center for the Protection of Children (CPC) in Bishkek, the capital of Kyrgyzstan.
There is a long waiting list, but instead of scaling up, CPC probably has to scale down or, worse, to stop altogether.
We know that "helping matters" and count on your support so that we don't have to abandon the underprivileged children in the deprived areas of Bishkek.
The ingredients for a hot meal six days a week cost >
per week            €      5,86
per month          €    25,40
per six months   € 152,40
per year              € 304,80
