How do you feel about another year dawning?
As women of God what sets us apart is that our vision doesn't come from the world/self but comes from God.
Lets take some time to hear the Word of the Lord for you today and to find His voice in the still, soft whisper this season.
I am reminded of the instructions God gave Elijah, expressed beautifully in THE VOICE translation in 1 Kings 19: 11-13:
Eternal One: Leave this cave, and go stand on the mountainside in My presence.
The Eternal passed by him. The mighty wind separated the mountains and crumbled every stone before the Eternal. This was not a divine wind, for the Eternal was not within this wind. After the wind passed through, an earthquake shook the earth. This was not a divine quake, for the Eternal was not within this earthquake. After the earthquake was over, there was a fire. This was not a divine fire, for the Eternal was not within this fire.
After the fire died out, there was nothing but the sound of a calm breeze. And through this breeze a gentle, quiet voice entered into Elijah’s ears. He covered his face with his cloak and went to the mouth of the cave. Suddenly, Elijah was surprised.
Eternal One: Why are you here, Elijah? What is it that you desire?
There is so much goodness in the verses above but lets go deeper today on just two points:
1. The Lord was so faithful in meeting with Elijah as He carved out sacred-space to seek HIs face and will. However, scripture says so clearly that the presence of the Lord was not in the wind, was not in the earthquake, was not in the fire - but was in the sound of the calm breeze. In other translations this is expressed as the small, still whisper. And I wonder what noise might you need to tune-out to hear from God for your next season?
To find His truth and love in the small, still whisper within your own heart?
Encouraging you to create this sacred-space over the coming week to hear from the Lord within your own heart & soul realm. As every plan and purpose you have for the next year starts and ends in Him.
2. The Lord was not only so faithful in showing up, but asking Elijah the deepest of why's:
Why are you here, Elijah? What is it that you desire?
If Jesus was in front of you asking these same two questions, how might you answer sis?
- Why are you here <<First Name>>?
- What is it that you desire <<First Name>>?
Before we either act or react, how about you pause to see what God has for you in 2021....
What’s His invitation for the new year?
What story does He desire to write with you?
One way to do this is to ask God for a word or theme that will act as a guidepost for your new season.
What will your theme or word be for 2021?
More than ever I am convinced that His voice and direction is the birthplace of everything that we seek and desire. Only by fixing our eyes on Him will we build what is foundational, lasting and eternal.
With grace and peace,
