May we be the Christ-Carriers who bring true light
Welcome to your weekend Soul Sista devotional: The Proverbs 31 Series through the lens of the Passion translation.
We're going DEEPER to wrestle with what it means to 'do' womanhood well in today's world-gone-crazy! To choose to say yes, I AM who God says I AM. To believe that we are here to do sometimes hard & holy things. To be loved by God, and to live a life that tells others what its like to be loved by Him. To stand in the gap for others. And to live - truly LIVE - each and every day while keeping eternity in mind.
Soul scripture of the week: Proverbs 31:13 (The Passion Translation)
''Even in the night season she arises and sets food upon the table for hungry ones in her own house and for others. She sets her heart upon a nation and takes it as her own, carrying it within her"
Have you walked through a night season? A time of personal darkness or a wilderness season, or perhaps felt burdened or overwhelmed from the sometimes groaning's of this beautiful earth and people around us.
As women we are born with a divine gift of empathy. The innate ability to nurture and breathe new life upon all around us. We love how Lisa Bevere declares that women were created as the first solution to problems on this earth, to man being alone. We are purposed with equality and loving intention of our God. But what happens when we get weary? How do we in fact arise, and choose empathy? And choose to be the light, interceding in the injustice and journey of the vulnerable around us.
The Hebrew word for "arise" means to arise and "rise up in power". The invitation is to arise and shine for our light has come; our true source in Jesus. We can arise because we have a source of power and peace that is greater than our own. Where through the divine exchange of grace, we can exchange our strength & wisdom, for His greater source.
"We can be women who choose to awaken our Spirit alive to the wonder of God. Choosing to awaken, to pay attention to what moves us. We are gifted with the dignity (of choice) of being allowed to choose how we respond to what moves our heart; to reflect the greater whisper and outpouring of the heart of God" -Bobbie Houston @ColourConference2018.
What if we were women that understood that our empathy was a chance to respond to the will & heart of God for His people. Love and passion are indeed gifts of the father. What moves us, moves Him. Every single individual has the imprint of the divine upon them, made in the image of God. And we have a beautiful opportunity to choose connect with love and a cause greater than ourselves and choose empathy first. Choose compassion first. Choose to take on this heart of a nation and to LOVE FIRST.
And this source of love? We find it in Christ alone, because His grace is made perfect in our weakness.
"Woman of God, when you do your work in this life, you have no need to be afraid because you have the
ultimate Light in your life" - Bob Goff.
Dear Jesus, we come before you perhaps in different places in the journey. I ask for your healing for any woman who is weary in her own journey, or that of her household and family. That She will know so deeply that you haven't abandoned her, you in fact walk alongside and carry her in any pain. For women who see the crisis of humanity in this world and feel overwhelmed, I ask that you move our hearts towards what moves your heart. And allow us to bring your light, your solutions, your true healing to the people in the world around us. Who you have called us to love first in your name.
Dear one, if you are seeking a new way to "love first" you might be interested in supporting the work of Preemptive Love who are the first in, and last to leave in some of the worlds biggest human crisis.
