Virtual Regional Competitions

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic that we are still facing, all of our regional competitions will be conducted virtually in January. The registration fee will be $10 per student. (There will not be a registration fee for advisers this year.) More details will be published here before registration opens on December 7. Meanwhile, here are a few participation updates and important dates to share with your students, which can also be found at

Objective Test and Role Play Events – Regionals
Take tests online via AnswerWrite.

  • Where collaborative objective tests are concerned, teams will take test individually, and the individual scores will be averaged for the team members.
  • Eliminate role-play component and make it a presentation.
  • Case study will be released with guidelines for prep times and recording presentations for virtual judges.

    • Has a prompt that will be released with guidelines for prep times and recording presentation for virtual judges.

Interview Events - Regionals

  • Prejudged materials (resume and letter of application) will be prejudged.
  • Interviews will be scheduled and take place in real time via web-based meeting software with virtual judges.

General Role-Play/Presentation Video Submission Guidelines - Regionals
  • Recording Presentations
    • Use any web-based meeting software that allows recording of teams when they are all in different locations, to record team presentations (team members would not have to be in the same room).
      • Recommended: Zoom
      • Note: Individual competitors may use any method they prefer to record presentations.
  • Uploading Presentations
    • Videos must be posted online and submitted via an unlisted (only viewable with a link) format.
      • Recommended: YouTube or Vimeo
      • Note: If you wish to use a method other than YouTube to post your video online, please work with your chapter adviser or your school technology coordinators to assist in posting an unlisted video
    • Videos must be unlocked for viewing purposes
    • It is highly recommended that competitors do practice videos and practice online postings beforehand to make sure that the video posting works as needed.  However, the practice videos cannot be of your competitive event entry.
  • Submitting Presentations
    • Competitor(s) must provide URL needed to play the video

Competitive Events by Conference

Chapter Membership Enrollment Is Open

Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA) is for high school students, with over 196,950 members and more than 5,200 chapters. FBLA-Middle Level (FBLA-ML) for junior high and middle school students, with over 21,900 members and more than 750 chapters. Phi Beta Lambda (PBL) for college students, with over 8,000 members and more than 350 chapters. Professional Division (PD) for FBLA-PBL alumni, business professionals, educators, and parents who support the goals of the association, with over 3,900 members.

FBLA membership is open year-round; however, Tennessee FBLA encourages all chapters to activate their chapter by submitting initial membership by November 15 to ensure your chapter continues to receive communications, publications, and services from FBLA-PBL and Tennessee FBLA. The deadline for members to be eligible to compete at the National Leadership Conference is March 1. Click here to submit your chapter membership.

State Leadership Conference Design Contests

The design contests for our State Leadership Conference have been retired.

State Membership Campaign for 2020-21

Last school year was a challenging year for membership growth for Tennessee FBLA, and we want every chapter to reach new heights this year by participating in our state membership campaign. This year, our goal is to exceed 6,000 members in Tennessee FBLA, and we cannot achieve this goal without you. Please remember there are great incentives and awards in place for increasing your chapter membership by December 1. The Tennessee FBLA State Membership Campaign will certainly help you reach your chapter goals.

Applications for Regional Officers and Scholarships

Applications for State Officers and Scholarships

Consider encouraging the most dynamic, emerging leader in your chapter to apply to be a 2021-22 Tennessee FBLA state officer! The Tennessee FBLA state officer application is available online now. Being a Tennessee FBLA state officer is a once-in-a-lifetime experience that focuses on building personal and organizational leadership skills through state and national leadership programs. The Intent to Run Form is due on December 11, 2020, at 5:00 p.m. CT. All state officer application packets must be submitted online by January 7, 2021, at 5:00 p.m. CT.
