Letter from the Editor
Dear friends,
I was hoping to have Part 2 of our Finding a Rescue article ready this month for publication but the month slide away from me very quickly and with the Quinte Canine Semi-Annual Scent Detection Trial this past weekend I am still trying to get my head back on straight. With that said our good friend Nanni of Quinte Osteopathy For Health & Wellness came to my rescue to provide an informative article. I hope you enjoy it and I look forward to seeing everyone at Barks by the Bay in Trenton on May 25th and Strut For Strays in Belleville on June 1st!
Your friend,

Manual Osteopathy
by Christiane "Nanni" Gschwender - Quinte Osteopathy for Health & Wellness
What is Manual Osteopathy?
Manual Osteopathy is a gentle holistic hands-on approach to overall health and well-being. The practitioner is working on any imbalances in the body, musculoskeletal, cardiovascular, neurological, craniosacral (head and tailbone) and visceral (inner organs).
Christiane has specialized in Craniosacral therapy which is a deep relaxation treatment that activates the self-healing mechanism. While most patients fall asleep the mind can relax and then the body can totally focus on healing itself. It also activates the digestive and the lymphatic system.
Especially nowadays with our fast paced world and stress in so many areas in our lives it is even more important for a good health to have a good body-mind connection.
She is also treating equines, canines and felines.
When is osteopathy useful?
Spinal problems and injuries, arthritis, digestive disorder, menstrual problems, chronic pain in back and joints, cardiac disease, breathing dysfunction, high blood pressure, headaches, migraines, TMJ issues, disc prolapse etc.

SEEKING: New detection practice locations!
Quinte Canine Scent Detection Students (aka the Super Sniffers) are looking for new and different locations to practice the amazing sport of scent detection! Once students complete classes they are able to join the Super Sniffers (which is a practicing club) and we schedule 3-4 practices per month.
If you have a location (this could be a business, building, home, cottage, etc.) that you would allow our amazing dogs to practice in please let us know by email quintecanine@hotmail.com. It is important for the dogs to get into new locations as often as possible to keep their skills sharp, learn new skills and build confidence.
Practices are normally held on Wednesday (daytime) and Sunday (daytime) but other days can be worked out. This is a great opportunity to learn more about the sport and get a firsthand look at how it all works!
