September Newsletter!
It's back to school time! Not just for the kids but also for the fur-kids too! Because we are working hard to add a big variety of classes and offer everything everyone wants, we have had to grow again!
We would like to welcome Colleen Phillips! Colleen has been working in the administrative field for over 10 years and will be helping us to keep on top of the logistical work here at Quinte Canine. You might recognize her as her dogs have a fan following. Her 7 year old Yorkie, Rhody is not only a Master Champion scent detection dog but very involved in tricks and even magazine modelling. Obsidian (Obi), her Basenji is now and up and comer in the dog sport world ad we look forward to seeing him grow. He already has some trick titles under his belt and also models with his big brother Rhody. Colleen will be working on Mondays, Wednesday and Fridays so please stop and say hello. With Colleen available, we can now have some 'regular hours' for walk in retail and registrations. Walk-ins for registration, inquiries and retail are welcome on Mondays from 3-5, Wednesdays 4-5 and Fridays from 12-2pm (excluding holidays, this will be updated on the Contact page of our website as it may change in future months).
We would also like to introduce you to Victoria Blondin, BVM&S, MSc., BSc., Cert. SAPT (Bachelor of Veterinary Medicine & Surgery, Masters of Science, Bachlor of Science, Certified Separation Anxiety Pro Trainer). There is a great need for qualified behaviour modification within our community, and at Quinte Canine we just cannot do it alone (due to extremely long wait lists). We are very excited to have developed a strategic alliance with Victoria Blondin of Shaggy Dog Pet Services to help the dogs, and the people who love them, in the Quinte community. To learn more about these services or learn more about Victoria please or book an appointment please email us at quintecanine@hotmail.com.
As always, stay safe and keep those tails wagging!
Your friend,
Yvonne Ferguson, CPDT-KSA, CTDI

Upcoming Classes!
Since you are one of our lucky newsletter subscribers I am offering you the first opportunity to register for upcoming classes with us! Because classes are limited they can and do fill very quickly. To be fair to all, we cannot hold spaces without completing the registration process. All classes are designed for dog and people friendly dogs who are up-to-date on core and rabies vaccinations.
If you have a dog with special needs please contact us to discuss how we can work with you.
Our physical location is 987 Old Highway 2, Belleville, ON.
(Half way between Belleville and Trenton along Highway 2, directly across from Connon Nurseries)
We want to do everything possible to ensure that we keep our community safe. Should the government of Ontario increase restrictions once again and force us to close, our in person group classes switching to a virtual classroom. We use a virtual classroom to 'meet' in a safe way. The class is run live and you are able to see, communicate and see demonstrations in real time. You still receive all the class handouts and we are here to support you even outside of class! Classes are fun, interactive and enjoyable; and the best part, your dog can be highly successful with dedicated attention on you.

Charger Update!
We are in week 16 of Charger's road recovery and although not 100% out of the woods, I would say 99%!
As he is healing we are now beginning to venture out more and more into the world. He is learning that all the sights and sounds of daily life are not scary, but instead positive (or at least neutral). His adventures have included local parks and a vendors market. Now that his leash skills are doing so well, he is also learning more about freedom (limited). Once we had walking on a loose leash mastered we began working him more in open spaces on a long line to learn general centripetal value and recall. Charger is a flight risk, as we know since this is how he ended up in his current situation, so a long line is a fantastic way to build skills but still get some freedom.
Charger wanted me to pass along and important message!
"Since I am doing SO well and have been medically cleared to walk 2-3km, I want to participate in this years Wiggle Waggle Walkathon for the shelter! Everyone was so generous to come together and raise the needed funds to get me healthy again I was hoping to help raise some money for my fur-friends back at the shelter. I hope they too can have a happy ending like me! Please consider making a donation to my walk this year and then come out to see me strut my stuff at the event (information below). Thank you friends!"
Donate on behalf of Charger at: Charger the Foster Dog | Donate To Quinte Humane Society's Wiggle Waggle Walkathon
Be sure to follow us on Facebook to see more pictures and get even more updates on Charge's great adventures!

We now carry The Bully Grip!
The Bully Grip state of the art design helps to grip a hard chew stick (bully stick, raw hide stick, etc) in place so that a dog can enjoy eating the treat while helping eliminate the risk of choking by swallowing the last piece. The design helps prevent a dog from pulling the treat out. We believe this is the best Bully Stick holder on the market! We recommend to use with supervision.
Check it out: https://www.youtube.com/watch?app=desktop&v=HVaLYsMqbd4
Just $25 tax included!
($30 for the Large)
