November Newsletter!
Did you remember to change your clocks? With the time change it is important to remember that our dogs do not know what daylight saving time is. And although they appreciate being fed an hour sooner in the spring, they dont really appreciate being fed an hour later at this time of year. If your dog struggles with this you can take a few days to push the meal time back by just 10 minutes each day. This will help your dog learn to adapt to the new feeding time.
This month, we are busy preparing for our upcoming Holiday Celebrations! But due to COVID, this year the festivities will certainly look very different then in years past. Our normal yearly pot luck and gathering is being modified in order to help keep our community safe but still celebrate the season and help raise some needed funds for the Quinte Humane Society. This year we will be opening our doors for extended periods of time over 2 days to host a drop-in celebration. We will have warm beverages, a few snacks and still host our raffle and wish list Christmas tree. We will be following strict precautions while getting to enjoy at least a small part of the season. Please see our flyer below for more information and mark your calendars! This is a great opportunity to come and see our new facility and we really hope to see you and your families to mark another year past.
December is shaping up to be a busy month as we have decided to host a Sporting Detection Dogs Association Designed Odor Test (DOT). This is an odor test for scent detection tests to demonstrate their dogs ability to recognize the odors used in scent trials. Each successful team receives a certificate and ribbon from the SDDA for each successful odor. If you would like to learn more about the DOT or scent detection make sure to reach out to us!

Upcoming Classes!
Since you are one of our lucky newsletter subscribers I am offering you the first opportunity to register for upcoming classes with us! Because classes are limited they can and do fill very quickly. To be fair to all, we cannot hold spaces without completing the registration process. All classes are designed for dog and people friendly dogs who are up-to-date on core and rabies vaccinations.

(Half way between Belleville and Trenton along Highway 2, directly across from Connon Nurseries)
If dropping into the location you may catch us, or the door may be locked when we are with a class or appointment, as well as when we are not present. Please note that we do not keep regular hours at our physical location outside of booked classes and scheduled appointments.

Intermediate Obedience
For dogs over 6 months who have attended wither our Basic Obedience Class or Teen Basics class. This is a great preparation class if you are interested in completing the Canine Good Neighbour Test. If you have mastered the basics in distracted environments its time to bring the skills to the next level. $120+HST. ($130+HST after January 1st)

Rally-O
Rally Beginners
Quinte Canine's Rally classes are built for dogs aged 5 months and older who have previous obedience experience (with Quinte Canine or elsewhere). Trick
Novice Trick Dog
Novice Trick Dog classes are designed for ANY dog! Absolutely any age, breed(s) and abilities can learn some fun new tricks! Learn over 25 tricks in this class. All dogs that complete the Novice Trick Dog Class are eligible to receive their Novice Trick Dog Title (NTD). $145+HST. (After January 1 2021 this class will remain $145+HST but will not include the trick title. The trick title can be purchased separately)

Scent Detection
Basic Scent Detection - Level 1
For any dog with a nose! The dogs in this class learn to search and find target scents in hidden locations. Students build confidence to work up to competing with their dog in the Sport Detection Dogs Association trials or Canadian Kennel Club trials. This is a great class for dogs of all ages, breeds, special needs and personalities and helps to provide great mental stimulation! $120+HST. ($130+HST after January 1st)

Basic Scent Detection - Level 2

Workshop! - See flyer below
All Quinte Canine workshops are limited entry and can fill quickly. Working spaces involve bringing a dog to the workshop where Audit spaces, just the human comes to learn without a dog and return home with new skills to then work on with their dog. Prices vary based on the workshop and which type of space.
Advanced & Expert Trick Dog - Sunday November 15th - 10:00am - 4:00pm
Anyone who has or is attending our trick classes (even Novice level) can join!

Once payment is made and the registration form has been received, we will process your class enrollment and send you an email with all of the details and class handouts. Please note that those who submit both payment and form (payment only needed for existing students) will receive first opportunity to register.
Classes are limited in size to provide dogs and handlers with maximum learning opportunities. Because they are limited they often fill quickly. In the very rare case a class does not fill with the minimum number of participants (50%) we may choose to postpone, reschedule or cancel classes. Should this occur, we will provide the option to participants to apply their class registration fee toward the postponed or rescheduled class, an alternative class or provide a full refund.

Play Dates!
We have play dates available for young puppies up to adult dogs who are very well socialized and enjoy the company and play of other dogs. All play dates are being held at at our location located at 987 Old Highway 2 Belleville (half way between Belleville and Trenton on Highway 2, right across from Connon Nurseries).
Play mates are matched up based on a number of factors to help build your dog/puppies confidence and skills. Play dates are 30 minutes each and are just $15 taxes included, due at the play date. All dogs and puppies joining must be up to date on vaccinations in order to join the fun.
If you are new to play dates (have not yet attended one) and would like to join one (or more) of the play dates listed below, please email us at quintecanine@hotmail.com, so we can match your dog accordingly.
Please note that if you sign up for a play date and are not able to attend you must provide at least 48 hours notice so we can fill your space, otherwise our standard play date fee still applies.
Masks are required at this time and we request that a maximum of 2 persons per dog attend.
Please email us all of the dates/times that you are interested in and available for and we will be sure to match you up as best possible with other dogs/puppies that suit your dogs temperament.

Congratulations to all of the Super Sniffer teams who entered the Kingston Boneyard Challenge! 22 Super Sniffer teams (of 46 total teams) had a great day!!!
The teams had only 5 minutes to search 5 hotel rooms with 1 hide in each room. The dogs sniffed their little noses off and the humans managed to move their butts to keep up with their dogs!
