India Professionals Meet IABC-APAC Regional Leaders over Zoom Video Conference
An enthusiastic participation from 20 communicators ensued engaging discussions and insightful exchange of thoughts and ideas on a range of topics in this video conference held on April 25, 2020.
Special thanks to Zora Artis, IABC-APAC Chair & CEO, Artis Advisory; Danielle Bond, SCMP and incoming Vice-Chair, International Executive Board, IABC, for sharing a presentation on The Privilege of Being an IABC Member — Why it's an Investment in your Career; and Ashwani Singla, Vice President, IABC India, and CEO, Astrum.in, who spoke on The New Normal for PR & Corporate Communications in the COVID World.
The 90-minute virtual meeting concluded with an Open House and Q&A session, with an exchange of ideas by all participants — both IABC members and non-member communication professionals.
Indian Industry Leaders Prepare for Post-Covid-19 Era: CXO Survey
In his talk during the video conference on April 25, IABC India’s Ashwani Singla presented highlights from the Astrum CXO survey — Perceptions & Prescriptions: Inside the Mind of the CXO — that affirms post-COVID-19 India to emerge stronger in the mid-to-long term. He also mentioned that three-out-of-five CXOs surveyed by his firm will use this moment to ‘redefine business strategy’ without any plan of staff layoffs. Surprisingly, only one-out-of-ten had a well-prepared crisis plan — they see engaged employees, crisis preparedness, and strong corporate reputation critical to success in negotiating difficult times, according to the survey.

We are thrilled to note that IABC India’s Dr (Col.) Rajeev Kumar, ABC, has received the prestigious IABC Fellow designation. It is the highest honor bestowed on an IABC member. Becoming a Fellow denotes a body of achievement by a communicator who has had a significant impact not only on their organization and IABC, but also on the communication profession at large. With Rajeev, only 98 of the world’s top leaders, including India’s Bish Mukherjee, ABC, have earned this superlative designation. IABC considers it to be a career achievement award for the industry.
Rajeev, whom many of you personally know, is currently an independent strategic communication consultant (The Communicologist). His career spans four peaks — in the Indian Army as an Infantry Colonel; in academia as a Ph.D. in Organizational Communication (Fulbright Doctoral Fellow); Head of Learning and Development in the corporate world (Tata Group); and a Professor in a Business School (IIM-A).
The Fellows Award will be conferred on Rajeev along with five other global recipients during the 2020 IABC World Virtual Conference this June.
