Friday News 15th April 2022

Its only half time .

Well done to the Mary McKenna Team who played last Monday in Greystones Golf Club,

With the scores of two matches to Howth and one to Greystones, two of our matches went to extra holes. The first match lost on the 21st hole and the second match narrowly lost on the 20th hole.
The second leg is on Friday 22nd at 12.30 at home and it would be fantastic to see supporters in Howth on that date.

The sweets are back.

For those of you who we playing in our first Monday Nighterof the season  know that “The Sweets are Back”.

Well done to the winner’s

Maura Dillon (26.4)   22 Points L3

Clodagh Whelan (33.6).  22 Points L6

Helen Ruttle (29.2).   22 Points

24 Played.

Just a gentle reminder to all players that they MUST put on their  Handicap Index, Course Handicap and their Playing Handicap on their cards. If you enter through the computer in the locker room, the sticker will have all this information for you.

Monday Knights in Buggies.

Two Knight in buggies were seen on the course last Monday Night.

On of our ladies playing on Monday night lost a small bag which contained her engagement and wedding rings.

Our two knights left there dinner in the bar and went up the course with the ladies and thankfully the bag was found.

I would like to say a big thank you to Sean and Conor Cribbinwho help the ladies.

Christening the new bunkers.

I think I was the first person in the new bunker on the right of the 14th Hole on Wednesday.

The sand is very soft.

Monday Nighters Results

The last outing before the Easter break again showed the Mens Monday Nighters in fine fettle with 43 entrants. James Raleigh continued his early season form with a magnificent 25 points! Even with a deduction of 2 for winning last week he still rendered countback irrelevant and won easing up. Camillus Dooley and Matt Haugh chased him home a couple of furlongs back on 20 points with Martin Mullen on 19.
James again raided the twosie bank on the 8th and was unlucky not to do likewise on the 9th but had to settle for another birdie! Pat O’ Connell and Eddie Walsh also birdied the 8th so that ensures a three way split of the spoils.
Again gents, we have to advise you to sign in online before you commence your round. Three players fell foul of that this time. Also, we only had 36 cards returned and 37 scores entered online. As these competitions are handicap counting, this non-compliance is causing problems for the competitions committee. Hopefully we’ll see an improvement the next day.

1st  James Raleigh – 23 points (25-2 prev)     €40
2nd Camillus Dooley – 20 points (L6)              €30
3rd Matt Haugh – 20 points                             €20
4th Martin Mullen – 19 points                          €10

Twosies: Pat O’ Connell, James Raleigh & Eddie Walsh each win €15.
All prizes will be credited to your shop account.

There will be no competition on Easter Monday 18th April. Next outing is on Monday 25th April.

Tuesday Nighters.

Tuesday Night 12-Apr-2022
(Nightly Sponsors Ray & Conor Collier)

Poor weather in the early part of the day reduced the field to just 36 players, but that didn’t stop Gus Moffatt shining. Well done to Conor McKenna who entered 2 cards into the competition box, unfortunately neither one put him in the prizes. Darragh Cooke will have the biggest smile after scooping the whole twosie pot.
Just a note on housekeeping, could we remind everyone to ensure their scores are entered on the BRS system as the main competition is handicap qualifying and all scores must be returned. Can you also ensure that you have entered before you start your round.

Were not to sure what happened Captain Karl’s GPS co-ordinates on the night either that or he forgot what night he was playing.

Twos 1 winners €72 each
Darragh Cooke

1st Moffatt, Augustine 22 pts € 40
2nd Keegan, Eoghan 21 pts L6 € 30
Class B Cooke, Darragh 21 pts € 20

Next week Tuesday 19th is the first Major of the year with Bonus points on offer. This is kindly sponsored by Fairview Motors (Gerry Guinan).  Hopefully weather will be kind and large numbers to participate.
