IBU Executive Board Proposed Establishment of Independent Biathlon Integrity Unit 

In order to strengthen its efforts to protect the integrity of biathlon and to implement the highest standards in good governance, transparency and anti-doping rules, the IBU Executive Board decided that a new, operationally independent Biathlon Integrity Unit should be set-up. IBU TC Meeting Saalfelden, Austria

The IBU Technical Committee and IBU Sports Department met on 10 and 11 May 2019 in Saalfelden, Austria, to discuss the developments of the 2018/2019 season as well as to plan for the new season. An important part of the discussions was dedicated to the review of the existing rules with TC proposals to be further discussed with the IBU Executive Board.

Laura Dahlmeier Retired

Laura Dahlmeier of Germany, the most decorated female biathlete of her generation, decided to call it a career before the start of the 2019/2020 season. Dahlmeier has won multiple gold medals at the IBU World Championships and Olympic Winter Games as well as BMW IBU World Cup Total Score title but had to overcome many setbacks in the course of her relative short but outstanding career. . . . ...read more

Giro d’Italia Stopped in Antholz - Anterselva, Italy

With its glorious backdrop Italian Antholz - Anterselva is one of most beloved stops on each year’s BMW IBU World Cup. This year another sports highlight stopped at the biggest biathlon stadium in Italy: the 181 km long 17th stage of the Giro D'Italia took the riders to the finish line of the biathlon competitions in Antholz. This included the final 5.5 km with a gradient of 7% to the Südtirol-Arena, which will host the next year’s IBU World Championships.
